Re: First owned PG product?

...I remember thinking it actually did seem louder but figured it was just a placebo effect or something. ... I had same thing happen when first swapped from AGU fuse holder to one of those light blue PG ANL fuse holders. It also seemed to have more punch. Just shows that quality connectors help ke...

Re: First owned PG product?

Mine was a Bass Cube when they first came out. I think I had some rca's and cable before that but not sure. I still have 2 ZPA'S from back then, that I am about to sell.

Re: A question I've always wondered the answer to..Power vs

Subs use power and the 600wRMS rating is just the maximum RMS power they can take, so in theory you could feed them(combined) a total of 2400wRMS, but whether you need to or not is another question. BTW forget peak, as you cant measure it, adjust for it etc, it just a marketing exercise. How much po...

Re: what sub encosure to do?

you could fill the sides, keep your spare and get one of those 4wd exhaust bag jack things. the ones you slide under the car and then use your exhaust to pump up. just an idea

Re: Issue with my electrical system...

a few things could be going on but as above, check your terminals at batt. Unlocking door lock is very low load compared to starting car, so although car unlocked, when you tried to start, poor connection may have prevented it. putting clamp on terminal may have moved it enough to get a better conne...

Many old italian cars are considered the best of their kind and yet a PITA to work on. Am pretty sure this an Audio phorum, even though repairs are discussed here more than most Audio phorums, but that's because we all love these classic amps, that IMO are the finest ever made, and want to see them ...

They are valid points but as we are talking which amps are PGs best and not best to repair. All I know is my amps have given me well over 10 years of awesome SQ. We use amps to listen to music, so for me SQ is what it has always been about, and in that area the ZPAs rule the PG roost(IMO) peace Cyber...

Although it could be argued about the various limited editions, of the regular amp series it has to be ZPA IMO. I just don't see how expense comes into it, either some thing is the best or it isn't. Best value is subjective but the ZPAs sound better and are one of Larry's finest designs. He told me ...

As above.
It always better to have the least equipment in your signal path as possible, as each extra item adds another chance for noise and signal degradation.

You have bridged your amp so it is now a 2 channel and only sees the signal from inputs 1 and 2(fronts), if you have rear rca leads plugged into ch 3 and 4 it's neither here nor their. The amp is only using signal from inputs 1 and 2. So you can run rear speakers off HUs internal amp and then use fa...

PG to me was all about overkill and quality. The ZPA/ZX/cyclone/XMAX era was (again to me) the pinnacle of the PG products. While everyone else was using ICs PG was going with Triple Darlington arrays, big Caps and bus bars you could run a train down, and then putting a window into amp so all this g...

Is your cross-over mounted outside the door ? If it is you could try swapping it with one from RHS and see if the problems moves to RHS. It sounds like could be a poor connection in xover.
see how you go

Re: item

Optima's are not gel cell batteries. its common misconception. They have the electrolyte in liquid form, like a conventional battery, but it is absorbed into glass matt. The surface tension of this arrangement means the liquid doesnt move and so behaves sililar to a gel battery ie it doesn't slosh ...

see Veddys post. I didn't realise about the different connectors. I can't see why you couldn't use that signal but as stated in Veddys post, you will need to set amp to accept the signal from floating ground balanced input. I'm sure one of the gurus here can let you know what specifically is involve...

The TBA set (trans and receiver) are for use when your amp doesn't have a balanced line in. The ZPA does so you only need the trans part. You feed HU rca line level signal into trans, then plug the balanced lead directly into amp instead of receiver. jobs done

I would say go sealed as although ported fans claim you can do it and have it sound good, to my ears a good ported is a very rare beast. Sealed is a lot easier to get right and nearly always sounds good. you will get more output from ported, but with the power you have, you should be getting ample o...

From what your saying it seems like the low level (<2V) signal from your factory hu isnt a speaker level signal at all, as it was designed to fed into the factory amp. So if you are feeding it into spkr level inputs on your amp then its no wonder matching signal is a problem. If this is the case, th...

Do you have W7 yet as you would be better off witha W6 IMO, as it will sound better and the ZPA 0.3 will drive it nicely. The W7 is geared more towards SPL and so doesnt sound quite as good and could use more power if SPL is what you are chasing

The ZPAs only kick into high current mode, if driven hard with 2 ohm or less, so it shouldn't go into high current mode with that sub. From your POV it really doesn't make much difference as amp will put out near enough to same power, regardless of load, but would draw a lot more current if it was d...
