The best packaging ever

Nico bolted the amp to the centre of a sheet of wood, cut to the same size as the original cardboard box. So the amp could never slide around inside the box and keeps the delicate terminals perfectly safe. As if that wasn't enough it was also wrapped in a soft fleece, bubble, padding, plus a second ...

A new 2250 in terms of looks, but more understated, no larger than a 2125, packing four channels of 250rms each. Could be used to run a two way active on it's own, or run a full system of passive comps plus a sub. Or a 2250 in terms of looks as above, but only the size of an MS275, packing 250rms x2...

Have you considered binning the guts, getting some Frank metal flake on it, then putting in three MS275?

It has some nice cosmetic metal work, such as the tops to the inductors and the wire clamps. But aside from that plus the time required to design it, I'm not sure where the money went? Considering the hype and made up price list. so what would you think it would cost design and build one of these f...

I know some of those MAY make some sense in passive x-overs, when used in the finest systems on the planet. But the prices are still a shock.

Anyway...

Nico informs me the caps were done in 2007, so no worries there!

That's interesting. As I say I don't need the extra power but just wondered why they reduced the outputs that much. Thinking about it, I guess the lack of three cooling fans meant heat was the issue so maybe they had to keep the power lower

Interesting, thanks a lot. Nico - any idea if these are the tall or shorter caps? Anything north of around 200 rms will be surplus in my system anyway I guess. But Amp Guts has different figures... Phoenix Gold MS-2250 2 x 250W @ 4 ohms (12.5V - <0.05% THD) 2 x 340W @ 4 ohms (13.8V) 2 x 517W @ 2 ohm...

2250 TA - tech specs & help

Has anyone measured the real world outputs of the 2250 TA into stereo 4 ohms? Also I wish to swap the small caps of course (I'll ignore the large ones this time as they're always perfect). Can someone recommend some really tasty caps please? I seem to recall Wima have a great reputation. Something b...
