Re: help designing a ported subbox

So what your saying is one big port would be better than two small ones. I was going to divide the speakers in the center and have them in Separate chambers. Hmmm Decisions. Thanks for the info

Re: help designing a ported subbox

thanks for the replies and sorry it's taken so long to get back to you guys. so I stuck with the original measurements for the inside of the box to keep it around 10 cubes ended opening 16 1/2 by 3 1/4 for the slot ports which gives me 53.625"^2 per sub. Now i just need to know how long to make...

Re: help designing a ported subbox

This is what kicker had to say...John, at 5.0 cubic feet per sub (woofer and port displacement included) you will need a 50 square inch opening (5" X 10") at 15" deep into the box. If you have any further questions let me know. Can you take a short survey?

Re: help designing a ported subbox

I came up with these measurements... Length 42" x height 17" x depth 24". PORT size 3" wide x 16.25" high x 16.5" long. Looking for 4.5 - 5.0 ft3 per sub and tuning around 35-38 hz. This is what i would do without any technical support. I emailed kicker the same thing b...

help designing a ported subbox

I picked up a couple 15" kicker L7's in a sealed box that measures 13x16.5x34. it seems like this is the bare minimums for the speakers and I would like to build a nice ported box for it and tune it low. I know it's supposed to be between 3 and 6 cubic feet per speaker but I have no idea how to...

Re: help picking out new subs

Im looking at different wiringdiagrams and it looks like i need the dual 2ohm subs to run the amp at 2 ohms. I need to use a series/parrallel circuit.

Re: help picking out new subs

Sorry I was looking at the w6 subs @3ohms. But i was wrong on that too, youre right it seems only the w7 is 3ohms. So if i get two dual voice coil subs should i go with 4 or 2 ohms. What is the best way to wire them up so the amp is running @2ohms?

Re: help picking out new subs

I was looking at jl audio w3 but they have a 3ohm rating so i wasnt sure on those. Then at alpine type r with a 2 ohm rating and wireing in series but those subs didnt look very impressive. I have never wired in series before. What is the preferred method of wireing parrallel or series? I was thinki...

Re: SMOKEY'S Z28

I have been working on the Camaro a lot over the last couple years but still no sound system! I did however get some fiberglass kick panels for 6.5" components. I put in a complete hotchkis suspension and 18" wheels. Ttocs I'm glad I took your advice on the powder coated rims. I am current...

Hi guys I was wondering if you could help me choose some new 12" subs for my PG1200.1 amp. I currently am running some 10" shallow mount kickers behind my seats in my truck and they sound alright but I would like some more bass now. I have a ported box for 2 12's and I have already blown 4...

Re: satellite radio cutting in and out at high volume

I will agree that the sat pre-out signal is higher than than the other sources from the head unit. I have sub control and can tell by the sound if the system is being over driven or not. from the other sources I can get it way louder without the cutting in and out for long periods of time. It seems ...

Re: SMOKEY'S Z28

Ya your totally right ttocs... good advice. I would be upset if in a couple years I had peeling or flaking I originally wanted polished torq thust 2's but seen the black chrome and thought that's cool. I can get these polished coy's in 18" for a thousand bucks so I'm stoked on that also found t...
