Re: Phoenix gold registry...LE amp owners wanted

No worries, I am sure I have a photo or something of the serial of the cyclone, it's in use so not as easy to see it, the others are just on display so won't be too hard

Re: SD800.4 question

Thank you for the bulletin, I see it doesn't even mention the 800.4 so I'm not sure if it was pre or post the bulletin, but even 15.8 is a low figure I would have thought. As nice as it would be to get the GT40 the shipping would probably be a bit much, but thank you for the offer. I've still got tw...

Re: SD800.4 question

The sundown is a SAZ2500, I've removed the self exciting regulator a put a 3 wire one in which has a set point of 14.8, although it is still doing 15v. I even tried putting the sense wire at the alternator output just to ensure voltage drop wasn't an issue with no luck so it's back wired up normally...

SD800.4 question

I have had an SD800.4 running in my car for a few years now with no issues, anyway, I installed a HO alternator which sits happily at around 15v as measured with my Fluke. The problem being is that during heavy loads from bass, when the bass stops the voltage spikes briefly to about 16v, it's such a...

Re: Xmax surround replacement

To be honest though I looked at lots of places in the US, there was one that had rubber surrounds as opposed to foam and they weren't great at helping. The suggestion from them was "you should probably just buy one and try it out" lol. To ship from Australia to the US is probably not much ...

Re: Xmax surround replacement

Update to this for those that may be interested. So after more hunting around I found a super helpful place in Australia called Queensland Speaker Repair. I gave them the dimensions as best as I could measure and they found the right surrounds. The surrounds and glue turned up today so currently I h...

Re: additional cyclone enclosure info req'd

I would probably look a just one with some decent 7's or 8's for the higher sub duties, I would only maybe drop down to 2.5 ported, but you will want to tune it low anyway so your port length will only get longer the smaller you go in box size.

Xmax surround replacement

I just received a load of goodies today, among the haul are a pair of xmax 10's that look like the surrounds have either been sitting with sun on one part or exposed to something nasty. They are both cracked in one section of each surround. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get the ru...

lol fair enough, I know that feeling all to well. Have you got a plan for all your ZPA's or was it a case of save them ending up completely trashed or binned?

Re: System into a 24 volt vehicle??

I've done a couple, the step downs are easy enough for the headunit, however for an amp to do it properly is a touch more work. My first one which was 18 years ago I just ran off one of the batteries, however the unequal load seemed to kill batteries rather quickly, the better option and a friend di...

Re: Anybody have experience with 8" subs?

That had always been the case with previous builds for me, I've run from 8's up to 21's even in the past, but these haven't ever had me wanting for more. It's one of those things I could try to describe them till I'm blue in the face but like anything it's personal opinion of course and really like ...

Re: Anybody have experience with 8" subs?

They recommend .75ft3 ported and displacement is only .08 per sub so even subs in the box for all four it's only an extra .32ft5. If I had the depth inside the box I would need to make my box 3ft5 for the same air space they have now. I'm not doubting the elite's are great subs, but just trying to p...

Re: Anybody have experience with 8" subs?

I run my 4 8's in 2.7ft3 gross, certainly nowhere near 4 cuft, that is what I was looking at to do a pair of 12's ported

Re: Anybody have experience with 8" subs?

I have used a few different 8's, and like previous comments they lacked the real bottom end output. Then I put in four SA8 v2's tuned very very low. They have the serious bottom end I've found in some of the other decent 12's I've used and tested. I've got them them on a sundown 2500, the box is on ...

Lol I hadn't noticed the bit about being class A/B, twice in the first overview they say it's A/B then on the second line of of features it says class D. Not that I ever thought it was Class A/B but could be a bit misleading

Re: Did zed realy have a hand in the SD800.4 ?

I just installed my SD800.4 yesterday, thankfully out of the box it's sweet. I actually like the look of it with it's dark perspex top. It's just a nice simple design with a bit of class to it I reckon. Hopefully it does the name proud, time will tell I guess.
