Re: rebuilding an OG ms1000 Nickel

I was hoping to replace the last few parts on the board and throw it together but a couple of pads and a circuit trace came up that I now need to repair. Looking into doing it right with dry film repair but trying to find someone with some experience in it to point me where/what to get great overal...

Re: rebuilding an OG ms1000 Nickel

replace R345 and R346 with a 5W , same value ( 1K5 ) but half an inch from the board. these are the ones you mentioned.... i would replace the silpads.. it was Nico boom who started with that recommendation.... resolder the fets/rectifiers/transistors after the boards have placed in.............. Re: Four 12's or just three?

I actually have a matching white bass cube I picked up from tricky ricky!!! I just haven't had time to install it yet. I also plan to make covers for the amps under the seats and I have to figure out where to incorporate the cube. just before the sub amp....if you place it before all the amps, with...

Re: Four 12's or just three?

PG recommended a 50 amp fuse within 18" of the ZX500's power input. The fuse at the battery should be sized to protect your power wire runs from short circuits, not to protect your amplifiers in case of malfunction... IIRC all the ZX amps except the ZX500 were fused internally. It is very unli...

Re: Four 12's or just three?

Zeropoint, Thanks for the input! So a fuse up at the main battery will not suffice? I think I currently have an 80 amp fuse up front for the main power wire, and I have an extra battery in the rear by my zx500 which I fused 8 inches from the battery. Do you think I should run one more fuse block wi...

Re: Four 12's or just three?

a factor you have to think of, the more coils connected, the more induction you create..... when it is too much, the amp can fail, that is correct..... maybe using 2 subs both in a vented enclosure was a better option..... try out and you'll see.... don't forget the 50a fuse.....unless you love the ...

Re: Four 12's or just three?

a zx500 can handle 2ohm mono all day, so at 2.6 ohm no problem.... don't forget to put a 50A fuse just before the amp...that is the most important factor to keep the amp from frying..... unless the amp is in a bad condition and the bias is way to high setted, like the most i get in my hands last yea...

Re: PG MS2250 inline fuse for paower

the oem ms2250 has two internal fuses of 50A each. personally i would (and will do when i install them myself) i would go to a big ANL fuse of 150A on a 2 gauge OFC (not CCA !!!) B+ and B- wire..... certainly if you use it as sub amp.... for speakers, maybe it will be enough with 4 gauge and a 100A ...

Re: MQ 430 trubble

one possibility would be the diff of bias settings of that channel....

i had that one time in a zx450...nothing blown/damaged, just the bias was not set right again.....

but don't touch the bias pots if you don't know what you are doing.......

try first out the things Eric is telling.....

sorry they are all v2 I only want to use one but what size of box? that xmax 12 V2 will sound the best in a vented 2.25cu ft, 4inch x 13 inch vent......... double the output then a sealed box, and it is going low as hell...... use the basscube for extra output......... i have build and tested those...

it will give you around 37/38w rms each channel at 4ohm stereo.... it will give you the same power at 1ohm stereo, what the ms275 would give at 4ohm stereo.....around 95w rms/channel the mps series are high current amps, where the ms series are high voltage....... brigded at 1ohm the mps2240 will giv...
