Re: Started my install

Well I haven't done much, things are on hold right now thinking up upgrading my subs to some DC Audio Level 3 w/level 4 upgrade 15" or 18", there will be 2 subs. Or I could maybe go with 4 X 12" again. Also need to make up my mind do I pick up 2 more TI800.1 or pick up one big 3K + amp?

Re: post a pic of your latest purchase

Actually it's five amps. The other will be here tomorrow. This is what I've wanted to do for many years. My problem now is I have everything I need. But I can't decide on how to build this system now. Well you have a 20' trailer that only has one tire in it? lol You can tow you music around with you.

So I should just go with 2 subs per amp?

Re: Strapping 2 TI800.1

I'm running 4 single 4 ohms subs to a final load of 4 ohms right now in a single chamber box, its just easer the tune the having 2 subs per amp and tuning 2 amp to match perfect. Dude, DON'T strap that setup! Run them in parallel, 2 ohms and two subs per amp. To get a 4 ohm load you'd have to run y...

Re: Strapping 2 TI800.1

either sounds like while you have two of the same amps they are not matched all that well, or that you are sending a different signal to one of the inputs. Are you using Y-splitters to split the signal? I was sure somewhere along the way that I heard that to strap amps that you need to get two that...

Re: Started my install

the interior dimentsions would not change but raising the sub a little I do not think would make enough of a change to notice. I know the interior stay the same, I won't be raising the subs, they will be still on the double baffle, the 3rd board will be cut bigger then the subs so is flush with the...

Re: Strapping 2 TI800.1

you basically use one amp to absorb(for lack of a better term) the sound the one puts out to ensure they are matched. If I am not mistaken what you are basically doing is taking two mono amps and making them into a stronger push-pull amp when its done and all the connections are set correctly. Imag...

Re: Started my install

I decided to keep the 4 12" to at least next summer, cause its getting to cold to start all over now. I was wondering if I were to add a 3rd mdf to the front to flush mount the subs how much would the change the tuning? Right now its tuned to 32.5 hertz if I were to add a 3/4" mdf what wou...

Re: Strapping 2 TI800.1

I always thought you set them up with o-scopes rather then by ear. That was one of those times were I thought you really HAD to scope them to keep them happy. From what I was able to find online all you have to do to match the gains on the 800.1 is: Set up the amplifiers according to the diagram on...

The ti800.1 were the only amps you can strap back then.

Re: Started my install

I would figure out some way to mount the top of that amp rack to the top of the car. There will be so much weight up there that if you were to have to stop fast(IE - rear end someone), that would be a HUGE amount of force being transfered all the way down. If it were made of metal I could see it bu...

it depends on where you are at but I am sure there are more then a few places that would not let it pass inspection. Besides that though have you conisidered what could happen if you were rear ended? Make sure its all mounted supers solid hate for your gear to be the last thing to go through your m...

Re: Started my install

will probably effect your rear view mirror, could possibly make the car not street legal if you have to pass inspection. Should not effect the sound at all. The rear view mirror is useless anyways it keep moving down with the bass, I barley use it anyways. Even with the 2 12" and one ti800.1 i...

Re: Started my install

Question for you guys, when I turn the box around and having the subs and port facing the front, if I were to put a board of mdf where I drew a red line to mount the amps would that affect the sound at all? The top of the board would follow the roof lines. I really not sure on where to mount the amp...

Re: Started my install

I think I heard somewhere in my install career that if you put a box with in 1/2 the woofers diameter from a solid surface that there is a good chance you will loose output. So for a 10" sub box you need to leave it 5" from the wall/floor/what ever, this was at a shop that liked to do dow...

So I mounted the two ti800 on the back of the box and the 475 on a 3/4" mdf board to try out the box. I know the wiring looks bad but its just to try out the box and is just temporary for now. I also make a this for the remote wires. IMG_0052.JPG IMG_0041.JPG Well the first time I tested the bo...

Strapping 2 TI800.1

I'm going to be strapping 2 TI800.1 and I have a few question, 1st question is its says to wiring the amplifiers to each other: Besure to connect the negative (-) terminal of both amplifiers together using a 12 guage speaker wire. If you don’t do this the amplifiers will be damaged. Could I use 12 g...

Re: Started my install

I had a ball for years. They are great as far as snakes go. Don't get so big you will have to worry about any other pets or small children. I built a system with 4 12's in an acura and funny enough had the same problem. We could not move the subs up at all because of the trunk size so we ended up s...

So I made my false floor today, stared off with cardboard to get the shape I needed. Then cut the 3/4" mdf board to size, I used the left over from the board build. The floor is glued, counter sink and screwed to 2 X 4 to raise the floor, floor will be carpeted to match the carpet in the van as...

Re: My new box

I so glued, screwed and silicone most of the box last night but had to stop cause my son had a fever of 102.8, but I got this far. I also got to cut the baffle and let me tell you that it took me like 2 hours to cut 4 hole on the double baffle with a jig-saw. Next time I have to cut in to a ...
