Has anyone used plasti-dip to paint amps?

I have several zx and zx/ti amps I am going to use in my install that is taking forever to get done. They have different finishes and I would like them to match. I was thinking about painting them with plasti-dip since it is removable. Has anyone tried this? Anybody have an opinion or suggestion abo...

Re: How are Silver Flute mids working out for you?

I have the 6.5s planning to run them around 100-3500 w/ 24 db slope. Install keeps getting pushed back by other projects.

Re: How are Silver Flute mids working out for you?

Well, I bought four of them, waiting to go in the truck. Will post with how they turn out. Gonna try to remember to take pics of my install as I go. I am excited, have two zx450s so I can have a channel for each mid and tweet, always had passive crossovers in my older installs. Also found a used sub...

Re: ZX heatsink paste?

I am going to use the solder my friend has that he uses to assemble circuit boards. He is an EE who has a lot of experience soldering so I am going to have him do it for me.

Re: Do I need to replace the caps on my old ti800.1?

Thanks for the advice. I asked in a different post what thermal paste should I use?, was thinking of using arctic silver. Also should I get solder wick with or without flux?

ZX heatsink paste?

I am going to replace caps on two zx450s and possibly one zx350. Going to order solder wick and twelve caps (maybe a few spare also). I have solder and a iron. It looks like I need to remove the heatsinks to get at the bottom of the board. Do I need heatsink paste and if so, is arctic silver OK? Als...

Do I need to replace the caps on my old ti800.1?

I am going to be replacing the caps in two zx450s, I also have an old ti800.1, want to know if they have bad caps too, I can do all three at the same time if that is the case. By the way when I say I am doing the caps I really mean is am going to have my friend who is an EE do the soldering for me s...

Wow, you could do some emergency welding off those. Good luck at the competition.

Re: PG SPL Build

Wow. Noticed dual alternator. Do any of the guys that compete use the giant alts.they use on buses? I figure you could get them used from truck salvage yards and save buying custom alternators. Just pulled one off a motor that my buddy bought to replace the one he blew up in his truck and it was hug...

Re: Looking for M25 schematic and close up picture of circui

I had a pair of m25s in high school, a friend bought one and ran 2 xmax 12s off of it. I was always amazed. Wish I had them back, had a zx200 that went with them.

Re: Opinions on older PG sub amp selection.

I am familiar with and like the older made in us PG amps. Don't really know much about the newer ones, especially don't know of anything that makes them significantly better or different than other brands now. Not trying to start something. Just trying to stick with a known quality unit that I may b...

How are Silver Flute mids working out for you?

I am considerng buying two pairs of silver flute 6.5 mids to replace the mids in my old kicker resolution component sets. I noticed some of you are running them. How do you like them? Do they work OK in an infinite baffle? Have read reviews of them and the few negatives I have read say they don't do...

Re: Opinions on older PG sub amp selection.

I always had the problem from new, sent amp to pg for warranty, they said it was OK. Maybe I will put higher cfm fans while I am working on the other amp too. Perhaps I should put a thermal probe in the amp to see what temps actually are when running? This is the only pg amp I or any of my friends h...

Re: Opinions on older PG sub amp selection.

2 ohm load. Ran same pair of sub's off 2 other amps and never had the problem. Before 800.1 ran them off rear of zx475ti. Then ran them off sub channel of kicker 700.5 after a car body repair guy destroyed my 475.

Re: Opinions on older PG sub amp selection.

That is why I stated earlier that I am going to recap it. Its sitting on a shelf waiting for me to order parts, figured if I buy another sub amp, might as well wait and do all at once. I do have my old ti800.1, don't think it will fit in my truck with the other stuff I am planning, plus I always had...

Re: Opinions on older PG sub amp selection.

Any idea what a cosmetically unattractive zx500 would be? I don't mind recapping. Bought my zx450 for $102.50. Ugly but works, caps don't even leak, although I am going to replace them for peace of mind.

Opinions on older PG sub amp selection.

Hi, looking for help selecting a sub amp. Ones I am considering are m100, zx500, ms2125, and ms2250. Looking for reliable clean power. I have a zx450v2 for mids and tweets. Lening toward m100, had a m25 at one time and loved how it would run hard reliably. Also what should I figure on paying for a m...
