Re: PG Rare & Limited Edition Registry

PROTOTYPE PRODUCT THAT NEVER SAW PRODUCTION (One of many products over the years, there was a computerized 1/3 octave EQ that I developed too, we showed at the 1994-95 CES..don't know where that one is??) I think we made this for the 1993 or 94 CES show. Again one of my projects that never got into...

Re: Pg zero point mids

Actually I built a set for a CES (I think 1997) white pearl enclosure similar to Wilson Watts Tots. 2 Layers of Ranger Board (non of that wussy MDF) 2.5 inches think on all walls, BRACED internally. Dom built custom crossovers (because of the on-axis design of home speakers, different that the car o...

Re: MPH6300 up close and personal

We built it for CES 1990. It was as everyone figured out, our statement piece. It was to be a real production amplifier after the show. But at that time our resources were limited (not like 1996 when it was UNLIMITED!!). 7 employees hidden in a closed off area on the 2nd floor of Tom Peterson's Furn...

Re: MPH6300 up close and personal

Wow, how old are these photos of the MP6300? And who has it now?? Man!!! haven't see that amp in over 16 yrs now. Hand built (by me) at CES 1990 36 hours straight to finish the build. It is all real, other than: 1. The boards were to be 4 layer, but we only had time for 2 layer (so it WONT power up ...

Going BIG (meaning long BIG amplifiers) is TOTALLY the wrong direction. In my opinion. Yes, for a small die-hard group it may be fine. But the reality is WE ALL want big power ...small package!! And if you do a marketing study of what RF, JL, ARC and a bunch of others are doing... ONLY their small f...

There was under 200 of FAS. We just ran out of MQ430 boards. That is the real reason we didn't make anymore :) PRODUCT to build??? Make a series of amps that are small (Philips chip set is really cool by the way). But make the power ratios correct (where as ARC didn't!!) Like a 4 X 100 , 1 X 500 4 o...

They'd have to pay me a LOT of money...and build the right stuff to make it all happen. But...saying that, having Morgan there ain't bad :) My best recommendation is to do a MS275/2125 circa 21st century! Build a few "State of the Art" models, and then the normal meal ticket stuff. Right no...

Yeah, we had an outside house do our "daughter " boards in SMD. Cause we didn't have the SMD setup internally. We were thinking about it. But with ClassA/B amplifers we still needed mass and surface area, so it didnt do much good to make the boards more compact as you had all these output ...

Compete with ZX450?? Probably I would say an LRx 4.1K 2 X 130 and 2 X 140 http://www.audison.eu/index_main.php?Section=LRX41k Not small like the ZX, but real powerful. Don;t have any issues with bad pots either :) Power wise probably the LRx4.5 http://www.audison.eu/index_main.php?Section=LRX45 VRx ...

Best parts, best PCB, best design, etc. All the things that mean...the best. You cannot say your the best, and use TIP35/36 output devices in an amplifier...

ZPA's HAVE to have a Line Driver (TBA??) of some type as their input gain structure was very low. Like 2-8 volts, instead of the more normal .2 -4 volts that 99% of all other amplifiers built have. Remember that this was the "KRELL/Mark Levinsion" of car amplifers. And becasue of the cool ...

We found that at about 400 watts RMS, the "blades" would "shear" off. Actually the tip of the blades would hit the bottom edge of the "ski slope" (If you've seen a cyclone you know what I mean) It took us a long time to figure out that we didn't need that much power. Wh...
