Re: Red this on the JL audio facebook page lately........

Actually, I was bored one day and came across a DIY MIG welder using a 24volt 200+ amp alternator and a lawnmower engine. If the fusible links aren't in the alternator cable, I think it will arc and burn the wire then blow if your hands don't get burned. Recently, I had a short to ground and my batt...

Looking for warm sound--PG M25 or M50?

If you were in Houston, I'd let you test an M series in your car. I thought I heard a difference between the MS 2125 and M100 everything else being the same. It may have been my imagination, but I really liked the sound of the M100 even over my TI500.4. Also, I noticed a huge difference between the ...

tantrum line driver

I was planning to do a tube preamp then was reading on the pros and cons with transistor preamps and tube preamps. One of the benefits was the high input impedance. So, I found the PLD1 has the same impedance as my tube preamp. I would like to have a PLD1 just because of that one feature that may no...

The PLD says 100k ohm input impedance, pretty much the impedance of the average tube amp. If I had a processor that can handle 8 volts input, I'd prefer the PLD...

XE load - How does it work

I almost think it is easier to vary the amperage through the output transistors using PWM switching which would be almost undetectable sonically with capacitor banks and a load. Similar to digital amps but not exactly digital, hehehe... An easy way to be 100% sure the load never goes above 200 watts...

And 'possible to merge two MS 2250 with heatsink

I can weld two sinks together, the hard part is the outer fins. Soldering them would fill the gaps if powder coating. I've put a 2125 and 275 under one fan shroud and you couldn't really see the gap when under the plexi and mounted tightly. Welcome to the phorum! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Shallow sub choice - PG SL10D2 ?

I think it's funny that people think that members of any forum are just staring at their computer waiting for someone to make a post on anything. I am guilty of checking the phorum daily, sometimes even twice daily. I am sure there are other forums where there are those elusive cyber trolls that wai...

Q&A for me

I love custom anything! You may want to try cold cathode tubes (mini fluorescent) for super bright and even lighting. Also, you could do an MS1000 style with the 2 1200.1s and use custom polished copper bus bars for the power routing. I would love to take on a project like this locally for a show in...

If you saw the walls of my basement, you would know right away what PG line I think is the best. I have spent the last few years finding "gems" and adorning the walls of my workshop with them. This may be a no no but how about some nice pics of the wall/display  . X2... I only have ...

i got mine for less than $20 on ebay. it seemed to work pretty good no heat issues ect. Thanks, I just got one. It would be nice not to have to remove my nano from its hiding spot in the car, hehehe. man I wish I could weld at all let alone as nice as that. Thanks, but I am a better grinderer than welder. I think my main issues are in the prep department. The intakes I've been doing are sanded and cleaned before I weld them. When I don't clean or the .010 thickness I end up grinding more than w...

Opinions wanted Alpine vs Kenwood

I've only ever owned a Pioneer Premier or Alpine. I've repaired or replaced Kenwoods and other brands. A buddy recently bought a mid-higher end Kenwood. Right out of the box, if we use all 3 RCA outputs we get engine noise on all channels. If we use the sub and either the front or rear, no noise and...

Well, I'm sure we are a sort of car enthusiast if we are die hard PG-a-holics. This is what I do for fun and lately, trying to do it for a living. My cousin and I had a performance shop, but the bills were the only things getting paid.

Cool idea. With the iPad, you could play the sideshow while music is playing through the iPod interface. With an ipad2, you could take the video with it and play it along with the sideshow of pictures. There is a tool to get pictures off your camera and go straight into the iPad... I found my ipad2 ...

Re: alpine 9887 ipod help

I've used the ipod touch, nano and ipad and they all work for music. The 3rd ipod classic is the only one that was able to be charged through the 9887 for me. The nano, ipad and touch did not charge which become inconvenient if you are leaving it in the car. I would be listening to the nano and afte...
