Re: Re capping.. And sil pads..

If I pull the board off an MS heatsink.. I have to deal with the sil pads.. are they reusable, or do they get replaced? I'm assuming they'd get replaced, if anything, considering the age of them. They're dirt cheap, so why wouldn't one toss them anyways? M line is fine, no need to split the heat sin...

Re: Re capping.. And sil pads..

Bcae1.com... That loaded audio related info site.. Read up on thermal pads.. The guy likes, in best to worse order, aluminum oxide, mica, kapton and lastly sil-pads. Just wondering who uses what around here... And not that I measured yet, but most of these thermal pads already come cut to size, with...

Re capping.. And sil pads..

Gonna give re capping a whirl. Got a couple of "donor" amps :) I get the capacitor choice.. But what does one look for, for the sil pads for all those heatsink pieces? Brands? Material? Thickness? Heat ratings? Never shopped, never read about them. All I know is that a few of them should r...

Is it me, or...

I recently joined a few more "brand classified groups" on FB... I'll pick on the RF and Alpine ones: is it me, or are there a lot of immature people in there? I compare to our PG one, and frankly, it's night and day to me.. Not pointing fingers, just wondering if I'm the only one noticing....

Re: Sound deadening advice, options, deals, pricing.

MLV = mass loaded vinyl. ITs a heavy closed cell foam that does do a wonderful job as he said of blocking out road noise. IT is also more expensive and heavier if your trying to save weight. I replaced my carpeting and used it instead of the stock jute crap and love it, but it is also on top of a l...

MLV? Googled.. didn't answer my "what does it mean" question.. The road noise part would be nice, and appreciated.. but for the doors, I'm looking to avoid the rattling effect of things. I'm gonna use dash pods that I got off of Mike here. Tweets and 4inchers. And still gonna use the 6.5s ...

Re: Balancing Act vs high end RCA interconnects for HU to Ge

And that's why I have bought like 20 amps, 2 line drivers, 1 audio control matrix, balancing act, 3 cubes, 3 caps, 60 feet of power cable, a bit one, an epicenter, 3 sets of components, and god knows what else I threw on those shelves lol. Just need speaker wire, dynamat/whatever, and speaker rings ...

Re: Rebuilding subwoofers

I saw his shoelace on the spider upgrade on a woofer he rebuilt, that was neat :)

I forwarded a local person's info to the person I'm dealing with, to save a bit on the whole shipping part of the equation. If he's not satisfied with that, I'll send him to Andras.

Thanks guys.

Rebuilding subwoofers

Who's the man to see about that?

Working out a deal with a guy somewhat local to me, and he's got a Memphis Mojo5 12incher that needs fixing... told him I'd get him a link or two to help him out. Is Andras the "moderator", that runs the PG FB group, a person who does this?

Got someone fired yesterday....

Careless, dangerous and malicious driving move. Edited out for length, was him also tailgating a car with less than a second in between them. Best part - the driver's next stop, he was meeting with his supervisor. Hello Mr supervisor. Driver didn't have a leg to stand on. He's toast. :) https://vime...

Re: Balancing Act vs high end RCA interconnects for HU to Ge

Zapco amps have the "Symbilink" feature what's that? Digital coax? Optical? Never quite understood what it truly was but then again I never spent much time with their products. Best way I could describe the symbilink is this.. it's like PG's balancing act. High voltage balanced signal.. s...

Re: Balancing Act vs high end RCA interconnects for HU to Ge

Tap into the internal guts on a deck you like send the digital signal to the bit-one, and then buy a remote volume control for up front. An option, but not one that I "could" do myself easily... that's one of the issues with some of the aftermarket decks.. needing a control module of sort...

If he won't ship to me.. he won't ship to Calgary lol.. I'll see, if someone pops up to help me out, awesome, if not, I'll keep shopping till I find the deck I want. Got time. No hurry. The little amp would be nice for my collection.. guy's asking way less than he should! And it's got the industrial...

Re: Balancing Act vs high end RCA interconnects for HU to Ge

The Bit One has both inputs.. its got all inputs.. it's sick :) I agree, the coaxial or toslink is good in my books. Just need to find a deck that has digital outputs. Some of the alpine stuff is fussy as in you need an extra module/adapter in order to adjust the volume. Some units won't sluff the U...

Re: Balancing Act vs high end RCA interconnects for HU to Ge

Not that it just occurred to me.. but if I purchased a deck that had an optical digital output... since I have an Audison Bit One, that has such connections.. wouldn't that be the best scenario? I think so, but, it's finding a deck with digital output that's the "issue".. they're few and f...

Anybody near New Westminster/Surrey BC Canada?

There are 2 items I'd like to buy from that area, but neither seller would/will ship to me... nothing crazy expensive.. just a Deck, in oem packaging and an amp, 2 different sellers. Nothing confirmed yet, would like to see if I could get a proxy to help me out! Mike from Calgary is doing me a solid...

If you find an industrial product with the same thickness, density, and adhesive properties, and it costs significantly less, are you saying you would not buy it? So in a nutshell, that's what I'm looking for lol.. the better bang for the buck. The under inflated price of the better stuff. Kirkland...

yeah... the cheap peel and stick ice guard asphalt stuff is not gonna be an option. I read into it.. great idea at first, but in the end, not a good idea. The whole smell thing is an issue, let alone the stuff oozing off the panels in the heat. We get pretty hot humid weather here, even in CANADA.. ...

Re: Balancing Act vs high end RCA interconnects for HU to Ge

I don't remember the option of turning the internal amp off in the Kenwood deck... but if no speakers are connected to the leads, wouldn't that be 'enough'? Maybe I'll upgrade the deck later on.. for now, it suits my needs. But that may change after all this gear goes in. I plan on powering/groundin...
