LOL.

The way I heard it a few years ago the tardy apprentice came to work late, again! I told him "last chance!"
He came late the next day with the excuse that he had trouble with his eye sight.
He couldn't see himself at work today!
He won a reprieve for that one.

Re: MDF or free plywood?

I made a box out of 1-1/8" form ply (void free, 11 ply).......... presented well as a sealed SQ sub box, blended nicely with the front stage. If the edge of the 1.5" shows no voids, have at it.

Re: Anyone brew thier own beer?

I brewed, many years ago, it was a simple setup. I had a 10 gal plastic container with a fermentation trap that yielded beer after 4 weeks. The beer on a shelf over the bed with a siphon and copious empties under the bed, you don't have to move for a week. Then on to the next squat! Life is good. :D...

The electrolyte from the caps may have seeped into the board and made it conductive. When you have removed the old caps test the board before installing the new caps.
Good luck with the refurb.

Re: Paint, not carpet?

When I build a box for myself, I make it from 3/4 MDF, then I brace it with more MDF. I then coat the inside with VB-1, and fill with polyfill when dry.
What's VB-1 ?

Re: My first cap job

Eric's tutorial as well as Stipud's really helped me out. Eric's recommendation to use the Chip quik de-soldering kit was right on, it made removing the old caps very easy with no via damage.
I took before photos to record the orientation of parts to be replaced.
Good luck with the re-cap.
