No progress this weekend

Post by bigsak »

Sorry guys I didnt get a chance to do any work on the truck this weekend. I do however have a vision now of what I am going to do. The amps will be mounted to the enclosure with some sort of nice flush panel or insert of carbon fiber. There will be a back lit Phoenix Gold logo on the floor also covered in carbon fiber. Last but not least the top of the enclosure that is mdf now, will be plexi so you can see in the box from the back seat. Unfourtanelty I cant draw very well or I would post a pic of what im thinking maybe I'll try to come up with something. But either way It sounds awesome I just have to make it look awesome too!

Sense I didnt do any work this weekend I still feel like I need to post some pics so here is what my door panels look like. Nothing crazy as far as custom work but all the speakers are mounted with 3/4 baffels and roadkill/overkill up the ying yang. I cut out the factory plastic speaker grill covers and made my own out of grill cloth so there was no lost sound in the door panel. I know its not PG in my doors but Im trying to be as transparent as possible with you guys. Also half the reason I even have the speakers is cause I was working at Sound Advice/Tweeter when they went under and got a crazy discount. Let me know what you think!

If you guys promise not to crucify for my wire management at this point. I will take some behind the scenes pics tonight so you can see the amps and Stinger batt. The amps are temporarly mounted on the back of the enclosure. Its not pretty but sense I didnt work on the truck this weekend I guess i will show you where I'm at right now. Ill post them up no later than tomorrow.

Ok guys here are a couple of pics of where the amps are mounted now, witch is behind the enclosure. This is just temporary and the wiring is very messy but I know you want to see the amps all lit up so here you go!

Nice! I like the look of the new amps. I was unsure, but after seeing them, they look classy, but sleek. Good stuff!

Now we need to see it look all pretty :D Get to work!

Looking good. I like where you mounted your tweeter under the mirror control. I have an 03' Explorer and I will probably be mounting mine in the same location, possibly relocating the mirror control and placing the tweeter higher. Keep the pics coming. :)

Your wire management is way too nice for a temp install! You've got zap-straps and everything!

That's better than most of our finished installs. Are you trying to make us look bad?? :naughty:

Depending on the size of your tweeter you might have to flip the mirror contol know upside down because the harness is at a 90 degree behind the panel and gets in the way.. The focal tweeter is really oversized so thats what I did. You really can't tell and its not like im adjusting my mirros everyday anyway.

Also I didnt feel the need to post the fuse under the batt but here you go. Also my crossovers are mounted to that same board under the floor but I need to vacume in there before i can post.

8 10"s

Post by whitenoise »

So I got to hear the new PG install. And it hits a lot lower then I would expect for 10" in a sealed box! But the box is huge!! It sounds good all around smooth good job. I like one amp on a lot of subs. Well amps the strong enough. [/list]

I would guess 139-140.5dB's it is just a sealed box. Is each sub receiving 250RMS or am i way off???

140.5?

Post by whitenoise »

This is 8 10" that's a lot of air moving, it will hit around 145 to mid 146 with a design like that, it shakes everything its not made for crazy SPL but he did say that he would like to build something to hit 150 so he has a lot to do still new design and ported i think
