2010 VW Jetta Sport Wagon TDI build up

Post by Pillow »

I figure it is about time to start a build thread for the Jetta. It will be a long process and I will try and keep this thread updated as progress happens.

Luckily the Jetta comes stock with a 3 way system in the doors - 1",4", and 8". I will replace these stock speakers with semi-drop in replacements so the finished product will appear stock. Minus the subwoofer box and different head unit I hope everything will be uber clean and stealth. There will be no rear fill.

The Amps:
- MS-250 grey
- MS-275 grey
- Sundown Audio SAE-1200v2

The Speakers:
- Tweeters: MB Quart PTD25
- Mids: AVI Sound MXD-100 (4")
- Midbass: Rainbow W-200 X-Plain (8" with Neo motor)
- Subwoofer: TC Sounds Neo motor 3HP built into a 10D2 by David at Fix My Speaker, which will reside in a ported box tuned for flat response

The crossover system will be passive and run through an old school MB Quart QM300.72 with points at 400/5000Hz.

Wires and power accessories are a blend on PG, KNU, Stinger, and Monster. For show the fuse blocks are PG to coordinate with amps... If I get really anal I will try and run all PG wires, but it is not a priority at the moment.

Head unit: still undecided. Input is welcome here! I can run a single DIN or double, and I do not want navigation.

Sound Deadener: Probably go with Ant's Second Skin line up. He is a nice guy and I want to support his efforts.

Enough jibber jabber already - onto some teaser pics :)

Don't worry, your MS-250 is in good hands and will be lovingly cranked a few days a week ;)
