I also had them painted to match my cars interior, but I loved the look with the grills off the pexi

Re: RSD amp old school look
thanks! it really changed the look of them. sorry for the crappy pix
Re: RSD amp old school look
scuse my ignorance but how is this done?
I'm on the fence with this, only cause the internals don't have the wow factor of the MS amps.

screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
Re: RSD amp old school look
just take it apart and remove the metal grill material that is on top. The plexi is already there. I removed the plexi in my 1200.1 that I am going to run at low impedence just to help it cool better.

Re: RSD amp old school look
yup just take the screws out and your done. could add some leds inside also to give it a bit more of a wow factor

What did you do? Are the painted or powder coated? I'd like to try this with my amps. If only I could find a almost new in box RSD500.4.
Re: RSD amp old school look
my friend works in a body shop. he stripped them down and painted them

Sweet. That would make it easier to do.
So if I were to add lights inside, would that induce noise. And to get power for the lights would I just tap off of the +- legs on the board? Any feedback on how to do this would be helpful

Re: RSD amp old school look
adding some leds in side should not add any noise if done right. You could just connect to the remote turn on of the amp and the lights could help you too know if the remote turn on is on.

Good idea. I'm going to try it out.
Re: RSD amp old school look
could just tie the new LEDs into the ones that are there already. I think there are 3 in each amp that are blue

Well that would make to much sense. So easy I did not think of that. Lol. Good thing to have, is good help from you guys. Thanks

Your amps looked great, the paint that was on there, how well did it stand up. Was it easy to scratch?
Re: RSD amp old school look
of course if you overdrive the led circuit you might burn it out which is why I suggested just tapping the remote turn on. As I said above I did it on my last system and it made it easy for me at a glance to know that the remote turn on was hot, if the amp was not turned on for example because of a blown fuse.
