Wifeys ride

Post by smgreen20 »

My NIB Boston Acoustic 705 speakers were DOA. Seller said he'd refund me the $$ so that's cool. In their place I put in Memphis Street Edge 5 1/4" coaxs. They weren't my first choice, but they were cheap and luckily my wife could care less, but they're not bad speakers at all.

I totally agree. I used to metaphorically drool over those original Opti amps during college in the early 90s when all I could afford were shitty Pyramids amps, Pyle subs, and Radio Shack components.

Personally, I always wanted an Opti 50C just because it was the biggest "50 watt" amp avialable. I think there's one for sale on Ebay right now.

That sucks about your supposedly NIB Bostons. At least the seller is willing to refund. Was it an Ebay purchase?

I had one Ebay purchase, an old M50, that didn't work as advertised, but the seller "EvanB" out of Phoenix, AZ was extremely accommodating and refunded me completely. He usually has a nice selection of amps for sale.

Yea it was on ebay.

I let him know up front that the description was wrong (realized it after auctions end) and that I was able to over look that as I could still use them and that I was protected by ebay's buyer protection plan and through Paypal.

Oh well, live, learn, move on.

Good use of some nice old school gear! I'm sure she loves it!

A good friend of mine would absolutely love to get his hands on those Lanzars! He's been looking for a while but hasn't found any for sale anywhere. I would ask "how much", but wouldn't want you to have to deal with "wifey's" wrath

He wouldn't want to pay the price. The 150 I got from a neighbor of my parents for a steal at $35, the 160 I just got off eBay for $140. I had been looking for a long time for either the 160 or the 100Q. These are the amps responsible for me getting into car audio. Those and a shrouded 2250.

I scan Ebay once per day, and I've noticed that the original blue Opti's like yours don't come up very often. On the other, PPI A600s are usually plentiful as are PG MS275s. I guess Lanzar didn't sell a ton of the original Opti's.

I don't know if it's that or people just don't want to sell them.

That's probably the case.

I wasn't putting them down or anything. In fact, I really like them. :)

There's a really sweet blue Opti 150 on ebay right now. It looks to be in terrific shape.

While I could admire it, my wife probably couldn't. Everything has to look as stock possible for her. She's pickey that way. I'm just glad I'm wearing her down to where she realizes stock sucks.
