Bagged 2005 GT winter build

Post by SilverGT »

starting a full custom build this winter on the car. in the proces of buy all new PG gear for it, but I thought I should post pix of step one. we just moved into our first house and lucky for me it has a nice little work shop in the basement. so I needed a new chair. Had an old reactive seat kicking around and also a old computer chair. had to put them together.

also picked these up localy. payed 30 for both. they were all scrached and had some over spray on the lenses. took them all apart sanded and painted them to match my interior(charcoal grey) and also used clear plastic headlight restorer on the lenses.

more updates and pix as I get parts in and figure out how I want the layout to be. oh ya here is the car its going in. 2005 grand am GT on air ride. car is getting a body kit, new paint and 20s also.

going to be moving the air tank and putting four xenon 10s in the trunk. set of xenon 5 1/4 and 6.5 comps in the front doors. two xenon 200.2 and two ti 1000.2. still looking for another ti 1000.2

i'm sure I will have alot of questions as this will be my first full out system install on my own.

question for you guys. I am planing my door pods. both 6.5 and 5? are going to be in the front doors. Now should I make a box/pod for both 6.5 and 5, or do I keep them seperate? also I am putting one set of tweeters in the a pillers, but was thinking of putting the other set in the pods with the comps

sounds like your doors will be pretty full, considered doing kick panels? I have had good luck putting my speakers in enclosures and I like to do so on doors specifically just to keep the speaker dry as well.

ok question was looking at the room I have for my duel sub box. I cant figure out how much air space I will have if the box is this

29" long
16" high
11" deep

will that be enough for two xenon 10D4's?

really? take the length times the width times the height for volume, assuming those are interior dimensions. I could get my calculator out but I am that lazy

Here ya go ...I use this site frequently for building my boxes and is pretty easy to use based on the subs ur gonna install. Using ur dimensions per the calc. you would have a total volume of 2.192cuft^3 if you used .75wood or mdf.

lol thanks bud. ya I cant wait to start the install. upgraded to 20s now and am about to start all my body work I want to do since its warm out again. question for you guys. should I put the four subs in the trunk and amps and all in where my rear seats were, or I was thinking of doing a fiberglass box in were the rear seats were and have my amps and air tanks in the trunk. just not sure if it would sound good if they are in the rear seat area

My friend had 3 JL 10"s in the back seat of his sonoma extra cab and when he put the windows down it hurt my ears it was so loud. so in the back seat is absolutely fine in my opinion.

ok I have my air ride fully installed. problem is I now do not have room for four 10s in the trunk. now can I put two in the trunk in my boxes I have already and then the other two in where the back seat was? will it sound bad anything? back seat was removed for my amp rack and what not.

word of caution on those xenon subs: make sure the dust covers are glued down good if not they will rattle

sound bad, no.. But if you don't mount them down well they very well could be the last thing to go through your mind if you have a wreck.
