2006 mustang ib install

Post by todd217 »

well i have all the new gear for my new mustang minus the new head unit. here is a list of the layout. front image dynamics xs57 powered off one half my ms1kta and jl zr800 midbass powered of the other half. 2 idmax 12v3d2 powered off an rsd1200.1. head unit will be the new pioneer deh 80prs. now i just need to start putting it all in.

how are you planning on sealing off the trunk from the cabin?

im pretty much changing everything. now im thinking about picking up a set of dynaudio 362 comps and using a single idmax ported instead of 2 ib.

a single in a box would probably sound cleaner then 2 ib.

i think it will sound worse. the main reasons i switched is the only place i could put the ms1k was on the floor of the trunk. i found out the back of the seats are not wood like my old stang but plastic. i did not want to take a chance of it breaking loose and falling onto the idmaxes.

i had to screw and glue 2 pieces of 3/4 inch together on mine. the 1 piece was not strong enough and would flex a lot. you need to totally seal off the baffle and make sure it don't flex or it will cause cancellation. i started with 2 12 inch subs and ended up with 4 12's in my 86 monte carlo.

the baffle was 1" 19 ply real baltic birch, i was not worried about the baffle flexing. i have done ib a couple of times but its been a long time ago.
