"Always" use a "Solenoid" at the back battery (keep the breaker there also) triggered by the Ignition key so when the car is off, the batteries are not fighting each other (they are now and it will shorten the life of the battery), and if you play the system till the battery gives out..the car will still start as the rear battery will power the entire system and be dead, front is still charged up.. With the Car ignition in the run position the rear battery is linked up to the front and the Alt.. there is no better way to run a rear battery. I guarantee that system is pulling more than 100 amp's.. It should be tripping the breaker with that much power.. A Solenoid can save your car from burning to the ground! Just run 1 or 2 200 amp breakers linked together if you need that much current at the front, near the main battery. Every car ever made use's a solenoid to cut power to the car. The only time 2 batteries will not fight each other is "if" they have the exact same internal resistance..that's impossible without testing 100's of the same batteries, and even then the safety factor isn't there. Im only telling you this cause it's the right thing to do and I haven't seen anyone else notice it and I would hate to see the worst happen..and it has happened many time's..

Check out stinger for solenoids. They are rated by how much amperage they will handle. All it does is separate the batteries except when charging but as he said it will help them last longer.

all too often I see people run a dual battery set up by simply slappin a 2nd battery in it and calling it a day. This will work, for a while, but if batteries are not matched(bought at the same time) and then isolated it makes them fight each other. If one is older then the other it will invariably charge/discharge different then the new one and that will always cause problems especially if not isolated. Again though it will take some time but it will show up.

I run a dual kinetik system with a stinger isolator with an 1800 to power the system and a much smaller 800 to start the car.

Exactly. If you don't care about a brand though you can get them cheaper at a local auto part store.

yes that is it. Now it just needs to be inserted so that it is between the two batteries. when it is on/activated the two batteries will be in parallel and there will be plenty of power, this is only when charging. I also went with the pac spr-200 battery system that also had a voltage monitoring system to ensure that they are charged when they need too be. The only other advice I would give is to run a switch so that if you need too you can activate the solenoid when you need to start the car using the bigger stereo system battery activated/on. This way if your starting battery dies you can still start the car.

I'm checking auto parts stores for the solenoid as my batts are dead again.

Is this how I will want to wire it into the system?

I disconnected my rear batt until I can get the relay. Got the charger on the front one...

Called around but didn't have much luck locally.

Not sure I would recommend that one just because it looks pretty small from the 200a I have

http://www.ebay.com/itm/STINGER-SGP32-2 ... 3a73b41c62

It might be just as good and the stinger might be overkill, Idunno I went with the stinger one too be sure.

your power wire that comes down from you alt will go to one terminal(one of the two larger doesn't matter which). On that same terminal then you want too continue the power wire down too the starting battery so that it is on all the time. The from the other large terminal then you want to run a power wire too your system battery. The final two smaller terminals are to energize the solenoid to make the two larger terminals common.

So now, would I rather have an isolator for the two batts instead? I'm not working & that stinger is a little rich for my blood. If I just got that isolator from you would I be good to go, or am I gonna want to have that & a solenoid?

isolator = solenoid so I am not sure what you mean. The link you have and the link I have are both the same general thing but a little different design and I am willing to bet the stinger is a little more robus
