PG MS1000 & MS275 installed!
Finally got it installed and it sounds and looks great!!

It's not even properly tuned...gains set too low...but the improvements are already obvious. These two clearly are legends that make Phoenix Gold a world class player in the audio scene.
That MS1000 is about 2" shy of being too long for this car....barely clears the trunk hinges, lol.
Things we do for love...

You must drive a Tuna Can or something. I remember a Earthquake amp I had that measured 33" long and weighed in a 35 lbs, now THAT was a monster, but yes, that 1000 looks like one as well.

Thanks guys....it sure is a fun sight to behold.phonixx wrote:Do you have any idea of the current draw of your monster and the total output? What speakers is hooked up on it?
The size is just so impressing.
Not sure about current draw as these things can be tough to predict, but with 340 watts x 4 channels, it's capable of throwing down the muscle.
The left side of the amp drives two JL 10W6v2s, and the right side drives the front stage, Morel Elate 6 , 3 way.
The MS275 drives the rear fill, Morel Integra Ovation 6.5" coaxials.
Just to give you an idea of the brute force of what we have here, I used to have a JL 1000/1 for the subs (1000 watts vs. 680), and Alpine V12 to run the woofers (250 watts), and JL 300/4 to run the front mids & tweeters (150 watts), and rear fill (150 watts). The MS275 is rated 95 x 2 for 190 watts.
Coincidentally, the rated RMS power for all of these amps is identical at 1550 watts. Difference is, the JLs & ALpines were set at least 85-90% of their capability, while these PGs have their gains set to like 15-20%.
How do I know? The head unit before would rarely top out louder than 24-25....now it can be maxed out at 35 without any noticeable distortion. A lot of potential going unused!!!
The installers are so paranoid about me blowing speakers.....what they don't realize is that it's not too much power that ruins speakers (too little if any), it's clipping that does. And u'll get it either way, so why tune low?!
Because that amp is so huge, it makes your car look small, like a Tuna Can.FG wrote:I don't get the tuna can joke....explain.smgreen20 wrote:You must drive a Tuna Can or something. For some reason it didn't dawn on me that that amp is 340 X 4. That Earthquake amp I had was 380 x 4, So I'm sure they're very comparable in size.
