1998 T4R Build........Part duex

Post by knightrider358 »

Well im at it again rebuilding the stereo in my 98 toyota 4runner. This is a complete make over than my previous build i did back in 07 i believe. Heres the post i did on it incase you forgot. Its pic heavy so be warned.

http://www.phoenixphorum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10941

Anyways since then this is what i upgraded to before now.

Hu-alpine cda-9855 3way active setup.
TLD66
Fronts-pg rsd 6.5 comps
Rear-pioneer premier rev ts-a1702c midbass
Sub-pg rsdc 12" dual 2ohm
Box-custom made 2cuft 30hz ported box..btw slams!!!!!
Mids & highs pg blk zx450
Sub duty-ti600.2

Well as you all know my ti600.2 had a ch crap out on me. So i thought wth upgrade time which trickyricky has now.

So heres the new set up.

HU-pioneer premier deh-p880prs
Pg TLD66
Highs-pg rsd tweets in front door
Mids-silver flutes front & rsd 6.5 mids rear fill
Sub-image dynamics idq 12" @ 4ohms
Box-spec built sealed box @ 1.25cuft
Mids and highs amp-ti500.4-front is driving all 4 door mids, rear is driving just 1 set of tweets
Sub duty amp-ti800.1

Ill upload pics once i get done this weekend.

Btw im doing away from the amp rack i built in the last build since the ti's are bigger than the previous amps. Also i wanna have usability of the cargo area since ive been building the t4r as an off roading and camping. So im mounting the amps under the seats so they can breath and out of the way. I may do something later but gotta think about that one.

Nothing to fancy here, the install is about quality sound and functionality.

Fyi i know the tld66 needs to be closer to the hu but i dont have any room for it in the dash. I have 6 runs of rcas, a ac epicenter160 and the pioneer ipod adapter for the hu. So everything is pretty right.

Btw i could get the silver flutes to fit so i used rsd's comp mid driver for front and rear.

Did you have any room in the glove compartment? That's where I have my TLD66, plenty of room there.

You should really make mods to fit those flutes....your going to be missing out. Is it a depth problem or mounting size?

I cant behind the glove box ricky, thats actually where the ipod adapter box is. Shhhh i kinda like showing it off too. Plus im not getting any "noise" in the system.

Its a depth issue w the flutes, the damn window arm is in the way w the window all the way down. And if i mount the speaker w the window up then it hits the magnet half way down.

Im gonna save the flutes for the probe gt build. Thats what the blk zx's will be used in.

I tell ya what thou, theres more definition to my bass now w the ti800.1 at 4ohm than the ti400.2 i was using as a temp. Even thou pg says the 800.1 is 400w rms @ 4ohms and the ti400.2 is 400w rms bridged @ 4 ohms. Whats w that? I was a lil dispointed that the 600.2 has more output bridged than the 800.1 not unless pg under rated the 800.1's

More headroom, less distortion, and higher damping factor not running the amp at it's minimum impedance.

I love this new setup thou, its so much louder and cleaner than my old one.

Can anyone tell me how the 800.1 does at lower impedances? Ive read where the ti line has "partial" regulated power supplies, but since this is a mono channel amp i would think something maybe diff that the other 2 & 4 ch ti's

You will double the power at 2 ohm. Any lower, you wont get much more power and will generate more heat and draw more current.

Well heres the new alternator i installed today. My old one was 70amp and the new one is 170. So freaking stoked about. I can tell a huge diff in voltage and sound. My old alt would usually run at 13.8v and drop to 13.2v the new alt runs at 14.6v and drops to 14.2v the sound is stronger and mor consitant. Btw the new alt is for a 1995 cadillac deville.

Just wondering. I always thought of putting my amps under the seat but that motor was in the way. I kind of liked it having kids so I kept it.

My passengers never really noticed a difference when i used it and didnt. Mainly i got rid of it cause i didnt want a leak and it ruining the floor boards down the road. I have barely any rust on my floor plan and frame which t4r's are notorious for rotting frames like tacos.
