I'm starting a rebuild.

Post by Drock »

So now that the season is over. I'm going to compleatly revamp the system.

I removed everything last weekend.
I started by trying my hand at my first vinyl wrapping of the new enclosure.
Just finished the face.
Turned out pretty good I think. Looks bad ass as hell.

I can't decide how to Finnish the port.

Any ideas?
Color?, finish?

Going to add a brace horizontally in port to support that side wall better.

I'm actually thinking that a bright white, high gloss would look pretty sick.

The sides and top are going to be wrapped with a dark grey to match my interior and amp racks.

The black vinyl wrap can't be beat! I put it on everything.. That box looks sick! I'd keep it all black. Seeing that sure makes me want to get off my ass and get my 2 elite.12d put in! If you were to wrap the inside of the port, would that affect the sound output? I haven't done any ported boxes ever... Have you tried these subs sealed? what would you recommend, sealed or ported?

I have a pair sealed, down firing under the back seat at 1.2 cubes each for daily use.
They are crazy loud.
I lifted the seat so I could get 3" of clearance from the floor to the sub.
Last metered a month ago at 143.4. I run an elite.1 to the pair.

In a ported box @1.75 cubes ea they did 147.7.

Not a huge number difference, but night and day to the ear difference. The ported box is tuned to 34hz. So they kill the lows. Yet they are still very tight sounding. I didn't really notice much loss in missing notes, if that makes sense.

Anyway I definitely recommend going ported with these subs.
