Hey thanks that's cool, yeah certainly is.. Kinda surprising myself.. but I have been making allot of mistakes.. some i can recoup faily well others I can not... like a good example is ... see the picture of the floor & door all carpeted laying on our dinning rioom table, like 8-9 pic's up.. if you look closely you can see that the door it self extends a lil further than the rest of the floor. This is going to cause a problem with the plastic trim/moulding on the rear end of car.. Nothing too too serious.. just gonna have to stuff/push up the floor for that to get/lay even with rear end plastic trim.. or cut the plastic trim a bit of the vehichle's. But the problem is, as I am leaning towards the former (pushing it up to have it even with plastic trim.. I am not sure what's/how's it gonna affect the top part of the floor board where it meets the back part of the back seats. AND I will then have a larger void on the ends of the floor (far right/left) of the floor where it is supposed to bump up with the trim.. SOOO i might have to undo the carpeting there and stuff/glue a lil slip of wood on each side to compensate that difference and re-carpet it. Otherwise, make a new door. Making a new door would be ideal except for the time/effort involved in doing so... b/c I could also fix the fact of the Lexan & U-Channel being too large by an 1/8"... But making that door sucked.. took too long to do that.

HERE are some other pic's of the amp just "demoed", with carpeting complete.. and a shot of the threaded rods and how i got them to be secure in the wood with the door.

Thanks Guys!

Thanks Man! I appreciate it.. I am a little hard on myself.. but just comes with being stubborn, determined, and just want the PG gear to be as nice as I can possibly get it.

Thanks again.. More to come shortly.. maybe even tomorrow evening.. I will be trying to figure out how to get the lexan/u-channel trim to fit.. and or maybe focusing on the Wiring, HO Alt, and Battery.

WOW!
Nice work there Matt!
I see you are finding your own solutions for all kinds of problems you encounter while designing and building this install. 8)
You're also thinking ahead, beeing able to acces the gear when installed, which is a good thing.
I've been looking [laughing] in the past during soundoff's, where people had to replace a fuse, or fix a wire, or re-set a gain[...], and they suddenly realized they never thought about beeing able to get there when needed
Those things always seemed to happen just before it was their turn to be judged.....
So good thinking there, and I love that LOGO you made; I'm sure it looks awesome in real life.
Keep on building like you do, and hook up your MS1000 in the livingroom to enjoy your hobby in the home as well!
Seems to me ,you've got the "CATCH OF THE YEAR"!!
[Welcome to the MS1K-club you lucky.......  ]

how do you like the stinger fan? i was looking at them, cuz i live in fla, and for the first time 2day my 500.4 and 1200.1 kept shutting down; finally at 10 pm, at 3/4 volume, they played perfectly, but i need some air circulation in the back of my a4 trunk????

OKAY BOYZ & GURLZ
It is comming together like but-cheeks!!!

Floor's done and hooked up and working! Yippe!!!

have a look at the aluminum binding posts I stumbled on at local hardware shop.. worked beautifully for securing/suspending the amp onto the swing-door...

To be honest.. I have amazed myself with this so far!

There will/is still some tweaking I need to do with this, i.e. put handle on Aside from finishing the install and doing the MS275's just the same as demo'ed in earlier pictures.. there is still a little tweaking like making/drilling holes for some of the wires to go through, set up distribution blocks (ground/power), etc.. but it's coming right along.

a few posts ago or so I had expressed disapointment because the swing-door was a little too long and was hitting the plastic bumper cover.. well, after pulling the carpet back a little and using a plane.. I managed to fix that and was really impressed with how well i manged to do that, as if you couldn't even notice...

More to come here shortly.. the sides enclosures wont take but one afternoon to complete as I will work on getting the u-channle trim cut down during the week...

Wasn't until just this evening that I had stinger fan hooked up and running.. Like it alot though, only time will show/provide true test for it's ability. One thing I wasn't aware of until I received it from shipping in.. was that the air only blows out from the bottom of the fan.. (or actually maybe it's the top) guess it really depends on how one hooks it up.. I have mine, I feel as thought anyways, that it is upside down.. But I could be wrong maybe that's actually right side up.. i dunno.. but in order to have the fan blowing across the fins, I had to erect some threaded rod for it to be supported on.. but at theis point I can say it blows a buch of cool air and is awfully quite!

OKAY.. Floor was done (LOL Haha).. Decided I wanted to go with an original 2250 seeing how the 275's i have are of that era.. might as well keep it consistant. Plus, wanted a lil more power and a lil more prestigeous of an amp..

Have a look at the change over.. I willeventually chage those ugly blue caps out and replace with black caps (as in the TA)...
I have to be honest and I preferred the look the TA amp had.. looked newer/crisper/etc.. But the Orig 2250, isn't so so bad.. and sounds great!

have a look... I know about the wired dangling.. will get that cleaned up eventually also.. need a two pin plug for the side of the 2250, and some wire ties and that should do wonders.

GOT ONE SIDE COMPLETED...
Be mindful I have not even attacked the wiring, under the hood stuff, nor the trimmings.. just getting/moving along in stages...

Decided against putting the wood cutoput under the carpet and recarpeting the box as I have recently acquired an MS1000 and may want to keep the speaker box a completely flat box in the event I need a place to put it...

Have a look the side came out great I think...

STAGE THREE COMPLETE!!!

Left Side (amp for rear fill MS275) is done.. Now dont get too excited.. still have tons of wiring to do.. The wiring situation right now is deplorable.. and if maybe someone could advise me on somethings to get for being able to lay the wire(s) down on the like lil' black hook-jobbers to keep it fastened to the floor/box/or whatever.. that would be appreciated.. and

Get a load of the handle I made up using an old JL-W6 Badge.. took a small 3/4" (believe it to be 3/4") in diameter little knobbie and fastened the JPL Badge on to it.. looks nice if you ask me...

Wiring, Big -3, Battery and alternator, and batt terminals are left to do.. shouldnt be just a couple of weeks for completion...

MS1000 is only in pictures to show it off, show what it would/could look like if I were to throw it in.. etc...

Hey thanks Takes a lot out of me.. I can not begin to tell/express to you what kinds of headaches, BS, and stuff I have gone through.... being the first major install, and first time working with wood.. I did a great job.. if I say so myself.. a few mistakes here and there.. let some ride, while others I addressed and recouped from.. had to pick and choose and stuff.. still no way near done, but the grunt work is out of the way! -

How far of a fall would you guess-timate it would take for that type of damage to occur?? Realizing the amount of packing material would be the variable, but say if there was a few wraps of bubble wrap at either end?? One end sustained more damage than the other, the worst side... all three terminals were bashed in pretty good... The other side just the power terminal is bashed in.. I need the Buss bars anyone got any?? I have checked with Phil.. and awaiting his answer..

Thanks tho Tom! Yeah took a lot of work and still no where near done really.. wiring, HO alt, Battery. Big 3, etc...
But is any install ever really done.. it's just tempory satisfcation, right?

Not true. Mine has been done for quite awhile now. All I do is switch out the sub every now and then, but other than that, I really don't want to change it whatsoever.

Next car however... that will get some of the bigger toys Ti1200.1, Ti900.7, etc :D

Do people think it's weird that everything I have in trunk is PG (amps wise) and then the JL subs... does it look off or is my mind playin' tricks on me?? What is best sub out by PG... never had used/expirience with any PG subs just their accessories and amps... The 12"Ti Elite requires a whole bunch more inner space, right?? it's okay with the JL Sub's right?

kinda splitting hairs here... but wouldn't swapping/changing sub's out be kinda along the lines of just temporaryily satified...? then wanting to try/test other sub's or upgrading, etc...
But yes I suppose there are some cases where someone is completely satisfied with their install, but is it really ever done.. new stuff comes out, ya get a great deal on something and wanna try it out, so it's one of these continous things isn't it??

Nothing wrong with mix and match, because the W6 are great subs. But if you want to swap them out, get some RSD competitions. Good lord those are amazing subs. Ever since I've put one in, the itch to change woofers has subsided completely!

Would it be an easy swap with those RSD Comp's? i.e. inner volume space and all that tech jargin requirements??

Absolutely. The RSD competitions have very similar dimensions and box requirements compared to the W6.

What I am having trouble geting over, and I am sure it's kinda psycological, but just looking on the "bay", there are pairs of them for like 269.00, and think i feel kinda that are they really that good?? I love PG stuff as you can see, but and again maybe kinda psycological, but thinking that you kinda get wat you pay for.. or maybe it's one of those cases where you're just paying for the name (referring to JL)... I have always loved/liked JL and Rockford for sub's... but that may be becasue I have yet to try PG subs... know what I mean?!?
