LOC for TV

Post by smgreen20 »

Sense my TV doesn't have any audio outputs it does have outboard speakers. Anyone know if they even make an LOC for the Home Audio world?

Sure they have a LOC for TV's... it's called a new TV :P

Seriously now that everyone is switching to LCD/Plasma there are some wicked good CRT's available for pennies. I've seen a Sony XBR 32 going for free (you just had to pick it up). If I didn't just buy a Plasma I would've been all over that. Even then, there's lots of stuff in the sub-$100 range, which is what you might end up paying for a LOC anyways.

Keep an eye on your local classifieds and see what you can find!

Well, the TV is a 42" HDTV LCD 1080i Magnavox. It's only weakness for me is that it has no audio outs.

We're using fans in the house (all 7 of them) to cool it down instead of the AC for as long as we possibly can and it makes a LOT of noise.

It's hard for the TV to get loud enough so I want to hook it up to the Home Theater System.

Plus, remember..., I'm unemployed = broke.

Are you using the TV's tuner, or a cable/sat box? If it is a box tuner, pic up the audio there instead of sending it to the TV. If not, then run a car audio LOC on a 12V wall wart. My guess is there are no specific home audio LOCs as most TVs have line out. Hell, my 50" plasma has optical, coaxial, and line out audio... I really surprised that someone built a recent display with no LO... It doesn't by any chance have some sort of menu option to switch the speaker out to LO, does it?

Later,
