converting mac formatted data to ntsf

Post by wash with gasoline »

Hey all, i sold my mbp awhile ago and all my "stuff" around 800gigs worth i left on my external hard drive formatted to osx.

I picked up a new 1.5 terabyte drive yesterday and i have been extracting all my stuff back over to windoze ntsf so i can use it on the lenovo core2 duo laptop i brought back to life.

Im still a mac guy ...just a broke one

Ive been using a free program called HFSEExplorer it works but it is buggy and takes FOREVER, its been running around 14 hours and its only gotten threw around 350 gigs.

Any other programs you guys know about for this?

Thanks

Any modern LiveCD should be able to mount HFS+ and NTFS in read/write.

Alternatively you can get MacDrive for your PC and mount the disk right in Windows.

i ended up using mac drive, it has a free trial and all i needed it for was this.
It was still slow, but it didnt crash moving around 800 gigs. and it didnt fragment the f out of the files like hfsexplorer was doing.
If i was doing this all the time i would of done more research on a good live cd, but i took the lazy route this time.

Ive had 6 computers in the last year and a half and its funny how tangled up all my stuff was from just dumping to externals everytime i switch...
Now i have almost 12,000 gigs on one drive sorted out, and it only took 3 days :idiot:
I think i learned my lesson ...till next time
Cant wait till i can afford another mbp :hmm:
