cheap but decent preamp?

i just scored a audiosource eq100 on ebay for a good price. i'm pairing this with my audiosource amp100 and want it to be a solid 2 channel setup for my room. 2 things are is missing

1, a way to control the volume from across my room (or so i dont have to get my ass out of bed)
2, the amp100 is VERY un, irr, de...not sensitive. if i'm using an ipod for a source, i must have the volume cranked on it, AND have the amp100 volume (which really IS a gain knob, not a true volume) cranked to get what i think of as slightly higher then moderate volume. i have never been able to drive the amp even remotely loud.

i'm looking for a moderate to cheap preamp with a remote control to hook up with my audiosource setup.
my ex-girlfriend said "its car audio or me"
i've had tougher choices at a soda machine...

the last couple preamp/tuner 2's when for pretty damn high. more then 150 shipped. i might have to go with a non audiosource unit

thats a pretty solid receiver! i will keep that as a plan B
