big changes

Post by kg1961 »

i have had a 7.1 set up for almost 4 years with a 120 ' PROJO hd epson top of the line.
so like my car audio problem im now into my home set up
i have a new modding xbox, and wii normal ps3, oem nes with 680 cart titiles
it was time to sell my higher end hk unit. i was a good unit out of the 25 i have used i just hated the lack of bells and whistle and how damn hot the amp got all the time.

so went out looking at denon(MY GO TO BRAND) YAMAHA PIONEER ELITE AND ONKYO.
after trying them all around $1000 can i found my self likeing the onkyo 709- 7 hdmi in 2 out 125 x7 tone of features
now that my projo had about 750 hour on it and being a little old do i buy new again drop 4k or use what i have. i can change the bulb and get a better pics but will a unit with better processing help. so i bought a new blu ray with net flix for the basement, the reciever can increase or decrease the picture so far very happy. why stop there

i had a 10 psb subsonic 5 sub for many year i love this sub i always go back to it
but found a monster energy piano gloss sub biggest they ever made with a huge 12 it hit like a car set up low nosie and fast as hell..im very happy with it

so now it new speakers had nuance large tower loud but crap, went to energy single 6.5 found thye didn't have the volume i liked than bought polk audio monitor 70i they are loud clean but there is something about the sound i don't care for..

so after reading some review and seeing the speaker in person these look like a great budget speaker they are accusound es-55s

so i bought a pair and did a a/b sound vs the polks. look they look like a high end speaker nice cabnet piano gloss finish magnet grill cover it has 3 51/4" mid and tweeter bi ampable, gold spike mounting feet and units to put under if on hardwood or tile. they had a fuller cleaner sound maybe not quite as loud on the same power. I did the test before these speaker are broken in and with out a sub. once i added the sub they blended much better in my system. I would say a strong 8.5/10. they would get a 10/10 as i have heard some super high end speakers love them but don't love spending 4k for them...
im going to pick up another set so 2 set in the front and i might buy another set raising them off the floor for rears
heck they were only 250cnd a set..

I have had an onkyo DTs-6 since it was new in about 2000, part of the integra series. The reciever has never failed me but the dvd changer I got to match it didn't last 3 yrs before it crapped out.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
