Preamp?...I need your help!

Post by Ahsmo »

Basically, I thought my cheap pioneer elite stereo amp had preamp outs. It doesn't. My plan was to limp along with that until I found a good preamp that I liked.

I have an Anthem MCA 20(200x2 @ 8 Ohm) and a set of Paradigm Studio 60s. My first inclination is just to pull the trigger on the Anthem preamp. The Anthem preamp is around 700USD so I am looking around that price point.

The MCA 20 has XLR inputs. So as to maximize what the value of my already acquired equipment, should I be looking for a preamp with XLR outputs?

Thanks 8)

Parasound and Adcom are at the top of my list, but I don't believe they have the XLR's you are loooking for.
I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.

I checked out adcom and parasound and stuff on audiogon.

I couldn't convince myself that the aged krell and mac stuff would be all that amazing for 2 or 3 grand.

I went with the Anthem TLP 1

So far, it sounds prett good. A little tight but my new amp hasn't broken in yet so...
