I'll chime in on this as I'm deep into a theater build for my current home.

First, the equipment/gear:

Amps:

3 Crown XLS 2000's for the L,C,R speakers (each one bridged mono to each speaker)
4 Crown XLS 2500's for the surrounds, rears, and the 4 Atmos ceiling speakers

Processing:

Marantz AV8802A

Media player:

Oppo 103D

Projector:

JVC RS500U

Screen:

120" Seymour/Screen Excellence acoustically transparent screen with EN4K material

Speakers:

L,C,R = 3 JTR Noesis 215RTs (horns plus 2 15" woofers each, for a total of 3 horns and 6 woofers).

Surrounds: 2 JTR Single 8 HT's

Rear: 2 JTR Slanted 8 HT's

Atmos/ceiling speakers: 4 JBL 328c's with matching 1 cu ft enclosures

Automation:

A combination of Irule, an Ipad, zwave, and a few gateway devices (i.e. Global Cache) to get everything talking.

The install is a bit extensive (I'll post pictures another day when I grab the wife's camera). It's sound proofed (hate that term, but none the less..) via 2 layers of 5/8" drywall installed on hat channel that is snapped into sound isolation clips on studs (read: NOT resilient channel as that is not rated for weight/etc and is not as good as the clip and channel method) plus "Green Glue" product applied between the two drywall layers. This was done on all walls and the ceiling.

The floor is comprised of osb, then 9 mm rubber underlayment, then 2 layers of 3/4" tongue and groove board with green glue between the wood as well.

Door: 56 STC rated door with seals and self dropping bottom seal as well. The doors weighs 320 lbs and is not a "DIY" special (I paid a ridiculous amount for the door).

Equipment room: All amps/media player/processors/etc are mounted in a repurposed 42U server rack in a separate room behind the theater. In fact the projector is in the equipment room as well shining through an acoustical/sound proof glass projector portal in the wall. There are no fans or lights or heat from any of the equipment in the actual theater.

HVAC: Dedicated Fujitsu mini-split heat pump (heat and cooling) ducted and installed under the floor in a crawlspace. Absolutely no shared duct work with the rest of the home. This was done to provide independent room temperature control AND maintain sound proofing "shell integrity" efforts.

Lighting: All led 4" can lighting with magnetic bezels (no springs to rely on for bezel attachment).

Seating: HT Design Southampton seats....8.

Decor: A literal ton of Hemlock wood trim and paneling (our home is craftsman style and has extensive Hemlock woodwork throughout, hence my wife wanted matching "themes" in the theater room). All praises of this work to my diligent carpenter. I know my limitations and beautiful stained wood work and trim detail is not my forte.

Acoustic treatment: Extensive......fiberglass panels wrapped in Guilford of Maine acoustic fabric, treatments behind the false screen wall, panels on the ceiling (actually they are fiber optic star panels with integrated material for absorbtion/etc).

I do this as a hobby and professional as a partial side division of my company offering high end theater design. Would love to do more of this, however most clients tend to want a display over their fireplace with in-ceiling "wife acceptable factored" speakers. Not my cup of tea.
