Post by kg1961 »

I get my year end bonus today and want a great sounding set of headphones
I don't care if they are ear buds or the big ear covering one's
I am not to worried about the price as this is the only gift I get to spend the rest of the bonus gets put away to buy out my car
here are some choices:

Get the same ones Tom has, Beyerdynamics... but forget the model :( I've listened to them a few times, they are REALLY NICE and sound fantastic.

I wouldn't suggest them for sports though.

Beyerdynamic DT770's. They are the shit. I wear them all day at work, even when I'm not listening to music, because they are sooo comfortable.

If you want a bit more bass, the older black version of them (DT770 Pro) have a much fuller bottom end, and are usually a bit cheaper as well. The 2005+ ones I have are more balanced sounding.

HD600s are lovely, but you'll end up upgrading EVERYTHING to suit....

Oh yeah, check out headphone.com. They have excellent reviews for all the headphones they sell. I buy all my gear there.

check out the amps, too; the poor student and the CMoy stuff isn't expensive to build and will make a difference.
