That thing is titties, man! Launches nice and straight too. I didn't notice, is it a 440 six pack, or the 340 six pack? Balls either way, though. Enjoy it!

Since i changed the valvetrain i really started to trust the car now. It´s going even better than in the days before changing everything. I´ve been driving thru town yesterday and took a few pic´s at different locations.

PS: The plane is a Saab Draken from back in the day, when Saab still knew how to build things to last. Not those creepy cars

I know for sure that this is/was the very same company. I just double checked with wiki. This is what it says.
wikipedia wrote:Saab AB[2] is a Swedish aerospace and defence company, founded in 1937. From 1947 to 1990 it was the parent company of automobile manufacturer Saab Automobile, and between 1968 and 1995 the company was in a merger with commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania, known as Saab-Scania.

And i finally found time to write some numbers down:

Car originaly was a 440 four barrel with a compression ratio of 9.5 to 1 and a nice 727 torqueflite console shift 3 speed automatic and a 3.23 rear end. Had 375HP when leaving the assembly line in September 1969.

Right now the engine is a 500cui stroker with a Sixpack on it. I went with 84ccm chamber Edelbrock heads and the Edelbrock 7194 camshaft which has a int/ext. lift of 0.528/0.544 due to the 1.6 lift ratio of the roller rocker arms. Duration is 300 int./308 exh. That gives me a measured compression ratio of 11.3 to 1. The transmission has been rebuild and the shifter is a B&M Z-Gate now. My new rearend is a 3.23 again. The exhaust has been upgraded to an all over 3 inch system with hooker competition headers. Since i did not have a chance to get the car on a dyno the estimate horses it´s supposed to throw onto asphalt now are somewhere between the 500 and 600 range. But pictures from dyno to follw as soon as possible.

I imagine what it's like inside there, when you really put he pedal to the metal.....
Biggest engine I experienced in a car would be the 6.9 litres of the 450 SEL which "only" puts out 250 HPH. I't got torque though; nice when a youngster with a Golf GTI stands next to you at the lights hehe.
One of our customers had us convert a 300SEL family-saloon into a rallycar; the 6.3 litres engine is untouched so far, but it propelles the thing with ease because of all the weight-loss the car has undergone.
Biggest problem is getting the power to the tarmac [as you will experience even more with your car Joerg..].
He has fun ralleying against Porche's, BMW's and such; they overtake him at the straight, but he overtakes them again at speedbumps and rough terrain with his [factory-equiped ] air-suspension since they ralley on normal roads.
It must be a thrill to drive your monster Joerg, congrats with the endresult!
Nico

next time have the camera pointing out the side window, maybe even back a bit. I want to see everyones reaction to it.... Here in the US that thing would get some looks but on that little island of yers :) that you are on I would imagine the reactions would be amplified.
