Unfortunally we had temperatures below freezing already and they used salt on the roads over here. I´ll finish replacing my master brake cylinder tomorrow and than the car will be trailerd into it´s winter garage. Testing it will have to wait until April next year. :?

Some news from my side of the pond. After beeing pissed about the hairline crack and the gasoline fire in my engine bay i started to work on my car again today. I upgraded the lights to all H4 and also did the headlight harness upgrade. The new coolant overflow tank it´s doing it´s job as well now.

Removed the non original gauges and replaced them with a nice 66-70 B-body Console Vacuum Gauge.

Little video from testing it:

is the hood scoop going to actuate up/down with the throttle?

Did you get those cut outs? If/when you do let me know as I have a guy making up a nice little circuit that will open them up automatically for 10 secs with a WOT switch.

So you are adding an Air Grabber scoop out of a same year Roadrunner/GTX? Interesting. I can honestly say i have never seen that mod before. Cool idea.

I believe they were controlled via a cable run to the dash? Or maybe connected to the throttle linkage.

Will you be adding the "shark teeth" graphics to the sides?

The cutouts are on their way. But i´m not going to have them open up when i go on full throttle. I´ll have them open up with the switch they come with. If they would open everytime i take of at a traffic light people around my town would get pissed pretty soon i guess

I know of 2 cars that had the mod done but they took the whole outer skin of the roadrunner hood and that made them loose the overall Charger hood appearence. I wanted to keep the turn signal indicators and the edges running along the hood.

Usally the air grabber from Plymouth was actuated via a vacuum switch mounted in the dash. These parts are very expensive.

Since i want to keep it simple and stupid i´m going to open and close mine with a cable or maybe with a 12V spindle motor. I´m not a friend of vacuum actuated gimmicks.

The 71 and 72 Chargers where equipped with the rare ramcharger option. The decal on these looked a little different.

The guy that made my cut-out circuit could make a controller for that hood scoop as well.

I took my top lid off the intake yesterday to service my carbs and change the main jets of the center one. The factory ones that were in there have been too small. Today i got a call from my body shop guy that they also continued to work on my hood. Took some pictures of it. Will pick it up thursday and take it to the paintshop.

It should be seven items in total. The last one to come in which is not on the PM list i sent you is a vacuum actuator:

If u have all seven items it would be great if u could ship them.

Finally the car is running smooth again. I have the oportunity to switch between 2 ignition sytems now only using minor tools and an hour of my time.
Started the car with the old ignition system today to make sure everything is working as it should and will switch over to the programmable MSD setup tomorrow. :hi 5:

And here´s a picture of theunderside of the modded hood.

The hood is almost done and just the end towards the windshield is undergoing some minor changes. I don´t like how it´s just cut off.

On top of that i won the auction for a mechanical six pack setup today. I´m so excited about these, because they are discontinued since 1971 and very hard to find. The benfefit of these is that the two outboard carbs have acceleration pumps as well and are actuated at the same as the center one is once i hit the accel pedal. 8)

Since the hood and everything had to be reworked and the guy doing this job for me didn´t care too much about appearance and floating lines anymore i stopped the project above and will go back to the old intake i had. I´ll start over with it when money allows me to buy my own welder and i can do the hood on my own.

Never the less i finally took me some time this weekend and rebuilt the carbs ttocs got for me off ebay last year. All new gaskets, all new jets all new power valves and loads off hours cleaning went into them.

Once it gets warmer outside i´ll bring the Charger over to the new house and swap intakes and will just enjoy driving it for the upcoming season.

That would have drowned your engine

Today i finally received those stupid metal split ups for my fuel lines. I had to order them online because not a single shop in arround my town had them available.
I hope that winter doesn´t kick in anymore since we stayed snow free this year. That would allow me to start into the season early and i can mount everything next month.
