So I am considering nitrous oxide. Anyone have any experience with it?

75 shot will give me what a 6000 dollar turbo kit will in terms of horse power.

 However, I don't know how to drive a car with NAAAAWWWSSS

no experiance.

how much to install? what type of injection?
it seems like over time the nitrious gear, install and refilling it would exqual the FI investment in no time at all.

you would have to run a twin trubo in the 350 wouldnt you? what about a supercharger?

There would be my problem right there. I seem to get into enough trouble in a Saturn, let alone something with nawwwwsssss or a turbo of some sort.

how to be a Ricer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AKA C4Power
HOW TO BE A RICER
Pronounce N.O.S. as one word (NAWS).
When you are outpowered, call people out with your friends car.
Have an aftermarket body kit installed
Use of neons or L.E.D.'s to light up your car.
Use an aftermarket tachometer...when your car already has a working stock tachometer in it.
You must install a non-functional wing/spoiler on the back and front of your car.
Names of performance parts on your car that you dont have.
Claim to beat cars that your car is totally uncapable of beating.
Install racing seats on a car that runs a 16 second or slower quarter mile.
List stereo equiptment or any visual mod when listing all your performance mods.
Believe that Honda invented VTEC.
Putting sub-brand labels on your car...example:Honda emblems on an Acura, Toyota on a Lexus..ect.
Install an aftermarket duel-exhaust on a 4-cylinder.
Make your exhaust sound like a weed-wacker
Buy a nitrous system just to purge.
Using car donughts and calling them "skinnies".
Mounting smaller tires to decrease gear ratio.
Multi collored body panels.
Claiming horse power and quarter mile times with out testing or proof.
Talk about how fast your car will be once you buy and install all the parts.
Fliping your hazard lights,during/after a loss or during a flyby
Say you lost because your car is running on a shitty tune and needs to be tuned.......... when you're on the stock computer...
rev @ every car on the road that will eat you(no matter what direction they are going)
If some challenges you 2 a race you have 2 options
a.race and when you lose go to ws and lie your ass off
b.tell em they are a waste of time
my clutch is slipping,i missed a gear,my vtec was set to low,
when the vinyl work is worth more than the car,
when someone does a neutral drop in an automatic,
bouncing off the revlimiter more than once
I started in 2nd intstead of 1st
My shift light went off late
I didnt catch posi trac on that one
Law#43-my strut bar snapped
my neonlight valve stem covers are robbing hp
I didnt double clutch like i should have
When the exhaust consist of coat hangers and jb weld
Yeah its got about 5000 dollars invested in it ( and it looks like shit)
Its a prototype that no one has (built from duct tape and blue glue and pvc piping)
driving in and out of traffic with your Integra thinking you have a fast car
Getting your #s from a g-tech or some other similar meter.
using chicken wire as a mesh grill
Having gauges that do not work
Having a body kit and no plans on painting it
When you double side tape parts to the car and expect them to hold up at 100 mph
"Yeah its VTEC, but its not hooked up yet"

taking your 50whp civic to a dyno when it's stock
When you manually shift an automatic
Going to the dragstrip with slicks and running a 16.05 in the 1/8

you claim your car is fast then get butthurt so you claim your car is an autoX car.
you post pics of your parents car and claim it for you own
when your car has more torque in the lug nuts than in the motor
list winshield wipers as a mod and carbon fiber pedals
When you transform your car into something else with a headlight swap and taillight swap

Calling your flat, bald street tires "Slicks"
you drive in 1st gear 90% of the time so you can hear the vtec whine
you have a bumper sticker that says drive it like you stole it
your keychain says aem/tanabe/greddy/typeR/si/mugen/....
you play nfsu2 everyday
you try to spell as many words linked to honda with your alphabets cereal
You treat your nfsu2 car like its a real car
Type-R
I will own you in the twisties
You have a V6 camaro/mustang and spend enough money to buy a V8 just to make people think it's a V8.
You've ever swung in behind a car (at 50 mph) in an attempt to draft.
When you lose you say "But your car has 4 more cylinders"
when you lose you say "Imagine if Honda made an engine as big as yours, because my 4 cylindler has 100 HP/Liter!"
You think you stand a chance against all Mustangs and Camaro's because they are heavy
You have a Vin Diesel poster
You buy a civic, add a cold air intake and cat back exhaust, add 200 lbs of stereo equipment and brag about how much faster it is than when it was stock.
You try explaining why vtec is better than a turbo charger
You have to let the passengers know when you're flooring it
If you know you can't win, you dump the clutch at 8,000 RPM's and say you couldn't hook up, but at least you looked cool
The only 2 exotic cars you can name are Supra and Skyline.
You put slicks on your car and only agree to race in the rain, just so you have an excuse.
If you tell the story of how your friend has such a fast car, he put a $10 bill on the dash, floored it, and you couldn't reach it on the dash because you were too pinned in your seat.
When you claim to race a stock automatic cobra.
When your cardomain site has a 'future mods' list. When you can shoot a grapefruit from your exhaust tip
LED exhaust tips.

When you have competitve races with cars- that dont know they are racing.
Put the car (automatic) in neutral on hills so that it rolls back like a manual and then go into drive when the light turns green.
Form opinions on cars you know nothing about.
Walmart is your #1 Auto Parts Supplier.

I would do the install. It would be a dry shot.

With a 75 shot I would be up to about 350 hp from 245 hp. The concensus amoungst those with N2O in the 350z world is that 75-100 shot is pretty safe.

As for forced induction. There are a crap load of kits out there. 3 or 4 twin turbo kits and 3 or 4 single turbo kits.

The one I am looking at is the rear mounted single turbo kit. Yeah, its strange but from an engineering stand point, it really isn't that impractical. It makes about the same HP as a twin turbo kit out of the box.

The Nitrous kit is about 920 dollars and I could do the install.

The turbo kit is around 6000-6500 dollars and it comes with a stand alone EMS that doesn't blow like the greddy or APS crap. I could also do the install. A tuning shop is located about a mile from my house so I could take it there and have it tuned over the phone by an experienced 350z tuner.

The main advantage to the N2O kit being the reliability. I would never have to wory about it fucking up because unless the system is armed...nothing could happen. The turbo kit makes boost around 3000 RPM which wouldn't be hard to stay under...but it would be so tempting to hammer the crap out of the throttle and hold on.

Watch you engine timing. You would not want to weld your spark plugs in permanently now would you
Seen it happen before, years ago, but it happened. It only took one 1/4 mile run, and she was done. Maybe they got it right nowadays. Have fun, but be safe also....C :)

i would avoid nitrous, i think it is too unpredictable (back fires, dry kits like to run lean and such)

i would do a single turbo set up with a intercooler!!!

avoid the rear setup if this is your daily driver, if you get caught in a rain storm you stand a large risk of sucking water into the turbo, then compresing it and forcing it into your motor at high velocity and as you know engines dont like water and neither do turbos!!!

i would do a t3-t4 hybrid the flows about 700cfm @ about 15 to 18 psi with a nice front mount intercooler and alky injection so you can run pump gas.

I was concerned about the whole picking up water in the intake thing but the company that builds the kits has never had a failure like that(that I can find). I searched high and low to find one. Most of their failures were with the oil lines. I am a pro at bending tube and swagelok fittings so I think I can handle that problem. I think if I did sink the intake into the water I would have much bigger problems than my engine hydro-locking at that point!!!

The whole turbo assembly sits higher than my stock muffler so if that ever got ripped off, again I would have much bigger problems!

The stock block with stock internals will handle about 10 to 12 psi safely and with a good tune. I will be taking about 7.5 or 8.0 psi.

Really, the install is so easy I could do it in about 2 hours and revert back to stock easily if need be.

The more I read about nitrous oxide the more I dislike the idea. Seems like the domain of the drag racers and ricers.

you can use skateboard berirings.

also - by rear mount turbo do you mean the ones that mount near the muffler....if so, only install if you want turbo lag

thats a little too classy for me. I have an old skill saw that is missing a blade. I found it in an abandoned mobile home. I think if I get some ball bearings from the abandoned kia next to it I should be able to rig the skill saw up to a old squirrel cage fan I used to totally fuck up a paint job I did on my sub box.

Seriously though, this graph shows a common kit vs the remote mount.

The common kit is on a standard so the numbers are going to be some what higher than the automatic transmission car. Notice the difference in boost pressures. The common kit also is very very unsafe- blowing motors left and right because their tubing blows and never really connects correctly. The rear mount tubing is so simple, a really big ass rock or something would have to rip it off.

Also, my car will have have a better spooling rate by virture of having straight pipes.
STS is the rear mount

STS actually is just up the road from me, about 10 miles or so. Rick used to work for a shop that did the mechanic work on our work trucks. Me and my dad actually drove his first turbo test vehicle. It was a Toyota Tundra, a damn fast Tundra!!!

The only thin I don't like about his set up on a 4x4 is that all of the piping and the turbo sit on the outside of the frame rails. It's just begging to be ripped off by a damn rock or stray tree branch under the vehicle while offroading.

It was damn fast though!!!

N2O is a part time power upgrade. You have to remember to turn it on, open the bottle (and maybe wait for the bottle heater if you have one) before usage. In the mid 90's, my Friend had N20 is his 5.0 Mustang and after 2 years or so it cost him in refills plus purchase price what a supercharger would have cost.

I like turbo personally but every forced induction mod has its place.

I was always wondering if that was a legitimate product, too many try to debunk the claims. I was curious about its real world performance. Ever since TRD stopped producing the supercharger for the Tundra the only other main forced setup was this STS kit. Nice to hear from someone who has taken a drive in a Tundra powered by one. I might have to revisit my thoughts about getting the kit.
