I'm throwing in the towel on my stang as it's just not big enough for my family anymore and to get it done the way I want would make it even more unrealistic. I want something nice to drive and comfortable for everyone. And lets just be honest while we're at it, I'm gonna floss this bitch with my friends too. I've gone and looked at the 740iL and it's really nice too but I've read LOTS of stories about failed tranny's and electrical gremlins. That said, I'm now looking into an 02-03-04 S430 or S500. Not even gonna entertain the idea of a 600 or S55 because I don't need that V12. Also read lots of horror stories about these cars too. I don't know anybody thats had one of these cars and I've read tons of reviews that say the dealer mantenance is a cash whore but I'm confident that most of the work it'll need is something I can do. Hell, it'll probly only get driven 3 days a week anyhow and even then it'll be in the 4-7k per year range at that.

Anyone round here have any real experience with the S-class Benz?

my neighbor has a 99-ish 4-series convertable and he drives it from time to time. Its really a basket case with the electrical gremlins and its to the point that the local mechanics will not touch it as they know the car, and know they don't know what they need too......

I know this is an old thread but I have a 1995 S350 turbo diesel with 650,000 kms on it. biggest issue I had was I needed to replace the timing chain since it has high miles. and its starting to rust. I also have the 96 S600 with the V12 imported from Japan. Sold the engine and trans with 120,000 on the clock to a buddy for a drift car project. the body is mint so Im fixing up the S350. The Diesel is very rare in north america. I have heard the V8s are not very good. my uncle had a 95 V8 and blew the timing chain and killed the heads and valves. I'll be looking at a 09 C63 amg in the next few years. they still are around 40,000 used
