It's official, I replaced my vw cc

So I had been thinking about selling it for a while. My work reimburses me $0.55/ mile to drive, and while the CC averaged 26 mpg, it used premium fuel and maintenance/repair costs are through the roof. I was due for new tires ($850) and a tranny fluid flush ($350) with on,y 51k miles racked up. With the car paid off I had a dilemma because I have no car payment, but the costs were starting to add up. I decided to make the change while car is still worth something.

I traded her in for a '13 Camry hybrid. Yes the cc is much cooler and has a much sportier ride, but the Camry has 25k miles, uses regular fuel, and gets 40 mpg.

So the dealer originally offered me $13k on my 2013 cc R-line with 51k miles. I was so offended that I was about to walk, but they stopped me, and after 6 hours they upped it to $18k for my car and I paid $2.5k more for the Camry, so after tax/title I paid $5k. I had to accept that VW screwed me on my CC (I paid sticker and 6 months later they were discounting them by $8k new). I had to cut my losses and move on.

Pictures of the car will be up here in a coupe of days. It doesn't seem necessary as it's a white Camry. We have all seen a million of them.

Haha, if you look at my progression of my user names then you would think that but no, I'm leaving it as is.

I used to be LS1dave, referring to the gen III v8 from GM that was in the C5 corvette and my 4th gen camaro.

I really should come up with a different user name that won't become obsolete when I get rid of a car.clol

So one thing that bothers me about hybrid toyota a is the lack of sound insulation. I started to dynamat with a bulk kit and I got my front doors done and the trunk. Huge difference already. I don't think pics are needed as we've all seen dynamat install photos. With the factory speakers still installed the Midbass response went way up. I do have room for the 8" Dynaudio Midbass in the doors as the cutout is for 6x9 (for some reason they put 6.5s in a 6x9 adaptor).

The addition of the pioneer head unit also woke up the factory components. I thought it was an illusion but I had to reinstall the factory head unit to send the pioneer in for service and the sound quality went way down again.

While the pioneer is out I'll fabricate the mounts for my tweeters and mids as well as the Midbass mounts in the doors. I'll also build my subwoofer enclose and figure out the amp rack. Then I'll dynamat under the floors and run the wiring....I'll start and install thread once I make some progress, didn't see a reason to make a thread with a head unit and some dynamat.

all the panels in the hybrids are so thin that road noise is a pia. My folks have a prius and the road noise in it was worth then almost any other car I have been in. One day I was leaning against the door when I felt it buckle under me. Thankfully it went back into is original shape when I got off of it but I have never felt a panel buckle like that from just leaning on it. I thought it would have been closer to 50 mpg myself but I am use to their prius milage when I think of hybrids.

6 hours haggling with the dealer? that had to suck...
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

Ha we did t haggle over the price of the camry, it was haggling over what they were giving me for my VW.

Yea the dynamat made a huge difference. My second bulk order should arrive by he end of the week. I think I'll need a third order before I'm done, plus I'm going to use MLV in the doors too. It should be much improved...Lexus-like. I am seeing now though that the windows are very thin, letting in lots of wind noise.
