Damnit boys, I'm hooked!!

Post by mr tibbs »

I'm getting into this whole photography stuff and I'm hooked! I should have gone with something other than Pentax because they are not playing fair. Because of the design of the Pentax DSLR body you can use a SHIT LOAD of different lenses. Today I bought an old camera with a lens on it that I can use on my DSLR, and the damn thing is older than me!!

And because there are sooooooo many different lenses that can be used there are some damn good deals out there. Right now in the house I have my DSLR, 3 other 35mm SLR's, 7 lenses (all will work with the DSLR), and accessories for all of the cameras. Especially with the older lenses you can get great lenses for unreal prices. Just today I bought a camera and 2 lenses for dirt cheap from an old man just looking to dump so stuff he never uses. This is just not fair, at least it cheap though!!

So, if I'm not around as much that is why. I'm sure I'll get this out of my system sooner or later, but for right now I'm having fun! I still need a lot of work on my technique, but hopefully with enough practice I can get that down. I think I'm gonna join a different photo forum that will critique my pictures a little more than the Pentax forum I am on.

which pentax forum you on? Pentaxforums? I don't know that they can't critique... but then, I don't post there that much. Ask the admin if he'll create a photography section ;)

M42 is Pentax if you have the adapter, but that is not the issue. The issue might be that the lens body is to wide and the built in flash might interfere with the lens. It would be close, that's for sure?? What camera were you using?

If Tibbs doesn't go for it, I have a Rebel XTI :D

Edit: hmm looks like I would need an adaptor as well...

I can see how it would fit your camera better without the popup flash...

... there's a story on the dslr-forum.de about taking it apart to release the infinite focus stop, so it could be used with a several-mm-deep adapter.

Moonshots FTW :)

I trid that and lost a few bearings :-/ I managed to get it back together before I broke the thing. The local camera shop were kinda dicks and no help replacing the bearings.

I actually got it for taking pictures of the moon and stars. Anyways there some bearings missing on the tripod mounting ring. It works fine. Just not as smooth as it should. 1 filter is gone which makes no sense and the m42 adapter isnt in the bag. The filter and adapter might have gone with the camera I sold.

Well shoot, PM me a price and we'll go from there. I don't really need it, but it looks like it would be fun to play around with!
