Some star pics from last night

Post by mr tibbs »

I'm pretty happy with the results, I will definitely be doing this again. My session was cut short tonight by a sick wife, but I will be doing this again. These were taken with my Pentax DSLR. I went up into the mountains at around 10:30 last night to get these. Take a look, the first one should look pretty familiar.

Which lense did you pick for that? A fast prime is ideal for doing star shots. With my megazoom I have to crank the ISO in order to pick up the milky way without having the stars smeared by the planet's rotation.

You should also try to do a multi-hour timed shot, pointed at the north star. The results are pretty damn cool!

Speaking of pictures, I don't think i've posted any of my pics from Holland yet...

This was just my kit lens. It was the first time I have tried something like this. I think this weekend I will try again and take like 10 shots of 10 second exposures and stack them. It looks like people are getting great results with the stacking software. It's just kinda cool to be able to do something like this, it's different! :D
