Weekend in Moab area

Last weekend the wife and I had a chance to take a quick trip to the Moab area. We were supposed to go down to the San Rafael Swell with the Wasatch Cruisers, but apparently I can't read and the club is not going to the swell until next weekend. So, we were all packed up and decided to head down to Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and the Moab area. We wanted to try out our new Tepui RTT so we decided to try out a BLM campground up Kane Creek called the Ledges. It was great!

Someone mentioned that it was spring break time so we were a bit nervous about getting into Arches, but when we arrived Saturday afternoon we drove right in. The campground we stayed at was about half full and Canyonlands seemed pretty dead on Sunday also. We had a great time and the tent was stupid comfortable! It was a pain to set up the first time, but should get easier now that I know what I am doing.

This was kind of a scouting trip for us to see if there was enough to do in the parks to warrant a full weekend at each. I think we will be taking another long weekend back in the near future. Here are a few pics:

I am so jealous of your trips and photography skills. That tent looks like it'd keep you high and dry.

that makes 2 of use that are jealous. I use to have a bucket list of places out west I always wanted to go to and those were on all of them. The mountain biker in me(if he was still alive) has been dying to hit moab, canonlands, yosemite, whistler

Thanks! The tent was STUPID comfortable. Kind of a PITA to set up for the first time, but that will get easier. I seriously have never been so comfortable sleeping in a tent. And the annex was plenty big for changing clothes and the such. That was a pretty big selling feature for us. In a pinch we can even set up a make shift kitchen and still be able to cook in the rain or snow! It was worth the money we paid for it!
