Need 4 inch speakers for the wife's new rig

Post by mr tibbs »

So, even though the wife's new rig is AWESOME (see here), the stereo is lacking. I replaced the AM radio, but the stock speakers (all two of them) are shall we say.... lacking. She doesn't need anything audiophile grade, but I would like to upgrade them. I understand I can fit 4 inch speakers in place of the stock ones so I was wondering if PG speakers will suffice. I see the new line up has some 4 inch in the RX line (RX4CX) does anyone have experience with these? They will be powered by the headunit only (thanks 24 volt system!), so I can't go with anything crazy. Thoughts??? :?:

I've had really good luck with CDT Audio and Image dynamics as far as coaxial's go ...have used both of these (below) ...give it a look unless your looking for a 4" comp set ...then see the last link ...fantastic 4" comp set that won't break the bank and will sound tits off head unit power.

Thanks for the suggestions! I should have been a bit more specific. The comp set is out, there is no where to place the x-over or the tweets. And, CDT's are probably out as well. The speaker sits almost flat against the factory grill so if there is a middle tweet it can't be past the front of the speaker by much.

Thanks again guys for the suggestions! I ended up going with some Rockford's because of the tweet placement:

Also, they get great reviews on amazon and crutchfield. They should sound about 1000% better than the stock ones in there! Lol I'll post up some pics in the auto thread when I get them thrown in.

Thanks again!
