Any SQ head unit recommendations

Post by Virtue »

I am looking for a SQ head unit. Any recommendations? I was looking at a Pioneer DEX-P99RS... If I was to go with a din size

Are there any double din sized units out there that has a nice screen that can play DVD's and all that stuff?

All pioneers new h/u's come out in April or May. They are pretty sweet. Have hdmi, and the new OS is really fast. The dex8000 is on my list. Just so happens my birthday is in April.

after 13 years, it's still waiting for a replacement for the alpine F1 status cda 7990r........

it seems alpine won't build that quality anymore.......................;

but if you ever could have a chance of buying one in good condition, don't hesitate...........

there's one for sale at the moment , it is a 7990J model........

Wow. That's a nice deck. That's a pile of cash though.

As far as gear currently in production, I like Pioneer right now until someone makes something better. The 2013 Pioneer line was pretty tuff, but the 2014 Kenwood line looks impressive, as does the 2014 Pioneer.
Being loud without good sound quality is pointless, but having good sound quality without being loud is also pointless.

If you plan to do a 2-way plus sub, then the DEH-80PRS would be a great choice. If not, the P99RS is certainly a terrific source unit. Plenty of processing built in and excellent sound. I'd still prefer an updated Clarion DRZ9255 with modern fetaures like blue tooth and ipod connectivity, but it doesn't look like that's happening either.

Agreed that Alpine doesn't make a high-end deck currently :doh: , but if you look around for a CDA-9887 or CDA-117, both are fantastic decks and the sound quality is top notch (Have ran both HU's and currently have the CDA-117 installed).

One of the best dead head Alpines is the 7995.. I use a Denon Z1 and I havent looked back. It was installed in place of my drz9255 Clarion, while I likes the functions it had the Z1 blew it away.. But it is way better than a Alpine, save for the 7990 F1 :hmm:
