Eclipse EA4000 amp
Eclipse EA4000 amp
Im thinking about buying 2 Eclipse amps for the Honda Fit to run an active 3 way + sub for comps and as my daily driver.
These are the smallest class A/B amps that I can find
Anyone have any thoughts on this amp?

There is one of these available to me locally.....not this specific model....but from the EA lineup, I was looking at it the other day
I like the look of them....and I have read some great reviews on them....I have a review of this amp sitting on my dresser
They use the " ICE " technology......and I like how all the termination points are hidden....you don't see any screws

thanks for replies.
The newer XA series are full range class d (which is a turn off to me), but the prices on the older a/b class EA series are about half on ebay.
Is it just me or eclipse used one sided boards? A bit prehistoric for amps these days. Maybe that's why they are so cheap priced
Im also considering the XS6600, but I'll have to buy an additional amp to run 3way + sub

I've lost a lot of respect for Alpine lately not b/c of these amps, just them in general.
its been really hard lately finding an AB compact amp these days.
I would LOVE to have the room for 2 xenon X200.4s Maybe one day

Great amp, but pricey as hell. How about an experiment?? I remember Nico posting up some tiny amp that he was testing out in his HT. Looking at it there was no way it could preform like advertised, but he seemed to like it.vin78 wrote:I've been looking at Helix lately, but they appear to be out of my price range

CC sold this amp .... and I had a PT joj there at the time ......... the store i was in never sold one. Don't know if it was the board or what but it had a hard time making power ... it replaced a smaller powered MTX thunder amp( the one with the multi led colors on it) and the EA could not keep up ....same input V and B voltage ...... tried turning the gain up and it would clip ..... Input V was around 1-2 volts IIRC You will need a line driver for this amp if i remember right it wants a high V in around 6-7 as for SQ it was on a crappy CCity sound board so I didn't pay much attention to that ..... All the manager wanted to play was POP and rap any time i put and thing like Jazz on he told me to turn that crap off........ I hated it there but i need the 2nd job at the time
dont know if that helped at all

Good question. I was worried about that too. But every seller on ebay says that its AB.dedlyjedly wrote:So do all of the EA series of amps use ICE chipsets? Or have there been some different generations. Cause if it is using ICE it surely isn't class A/B.

Note how cheap priced they are
I searched on eclipse's website, but it appears their product manuals are pruned once new replacement products are available.

the size of the ea4000 you listed is definitely more in the A/B ballpark. i see an ea4100 and an xa4000 in the lit you posted, am I missing it? I think your ea4000 was from the model year previous to that info.
