Masking tape will be fine. Multiple layers of tape is better than one as resin can seep between the seams of a single layer.

Give it a liberal coating of PAM or a coating of carnuba wax to act as a mold release before you lay any resin or mat down.

Yea man masking tape will be fine. also When I do glassing I had an installer a loooonngggg time ago show me that when u actually mix bondo and glass together. 2 parts of glass to 1 part bondo its allot easier to work with and its not as how would I say harsh on other materials. But It does work great when finishing it off.
Current 1 of 2 current installs

tinfoil works excellent as well, but you will never get it all out of the glass...

I was going to recomend the aluminum foil as well. I normally put down a layer of tape first, then cover that with foil. This way it should just pop right out and will pull the foil with it. As mentioned above it will be dificult to get it all out but it will not hurt anything.

I would recomend putting down a sound dampin layer before you have done any of what was mentioned. Second skin is what I recomend.
