What am I going to improve?

Post by nueces5 »

Hello, my name is Hernan, I am restoring an old car from my grandfather. I try to put the best audio system that my budget can afford.
Currently I have a alpine 121 and a pair of Phoenix Gold R65 cs and a pair of 6x9 pioneers. Probably will add a PG Sub R1. I like the sound quality. I'm looking for the best settings for my car. I have to decide between PG R500.4, SD500.4 (connecting 6x9 to HU) or SD800.5.
What am I going to improve whit SD 800.5 (Aside from earning 300 rms)?

I am a doctor in Argentina, I apologize for my poor English and little technical audiocar knowledge.
Thanks

Powering the 6x9's off of the headunit should be fine, since they need to be much quieter than your front speakers for the best sound quality. If it's a small car (two door) you are best with no rear speakers at all. If you get the SD800.5, I would suggest bridging the front and rear channels to the front speakers (running it in 3 channel mode) for even more power to the front. This will mean more clarity at louder volumes.

Cool car! I didn't know Argentina had its own Fords! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falco ... na%29#1966

The R1 sub is decent. Very loud on little power, a bit more biased for high range bass. Personally I like the sound of the Ti2 series the best, or the RSD Competition series if you can find it used.

I'm told that the R1 is good for the money you pay for it.
For Ti2 I need another amplifier. Like SD600.1...
would have
alpine 121
R65cs Component Speaker Set
Pioneer 6x9 Rear

Now...
Amplifier: R500.4 Or SD 500.4

Sub R1 or Ti2?
wonder whenever I enlarge the budget!

The R1 is great for the money, and so is the Ti2! You definitely don't need more power to run the Ti2 sub... I have mine on 250 watts and it is just great! My install has a Ti500.4 amplifier powering Ti components in the front and an RSD competition subwoofer, bridged on the rear channels. My rear door speakers are powered off the headunit.

What type of music will you be playing? Do you want to be loud or just have good, well rounded sound quality?

linkin park, pink floyd, metal, a very long list ...
Sound quality is my choice!
In argentina PG R110 cost around 190 Us
Phoenix Gold TI212D2 cost: 350

The R1 should be perfect for metal/rock music. You'd want the Ti for anything deeper... electronic, rap, etc (while still being amazing on metal/rock).

Nice job indeed. That car looks showroom new.
Got "schooled" by member shawn k on May 10th, 2011...
No longer really "in tune" with the audio industry, and probably have not been for some time.
Hands down the forum's most ignorant member...
