Not that I am going to switch out my ZX-450, but I was wondering what you guys think is the best sounding four channel amp ever made? I am talking pure SQ here guys, offered to the public, price no limit! Throw a pic or two of your recomended amp up if you get 'em! Hey, since we are on the topic, lets get your feelings on the best sounding, pure SQ two channel ever offered to the public also. Let the opinions rain down! LOL!

prolly anything made by Boss....HA!...J/K...that would be fucking rediculous!....i've never really used any thing better than sony or audiobahn so far (getting all my PG stuff next month...very exciting time for me)...so i dont have a useful opinion
what if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?
Here is my two cents worth, not sure about the four channel, but the ZPA series are the best sounding amps I have ever heard!

Mobile Authority Thump are the best amps hands down! They put out the rated power or more and have a crispness to them that cannot be beat
I like the ZX-500 for SQ I heard Zapco had some great SQ units

Beyond a certain level of quality (let's say class A/B BJT darlington arrays), I can't hear much for differences between amps, unless they have a specifically colored sound. Comparing in different environments makes it even more tricky. As such, it's usually the amount of power that makes the difference to me.
So the best amp I have heard to date was my Ti900.7, bridged with 300 watts on my Elite 5.1's. They sounded absolutely delicious on that power! So crisp. Similarly, the best sub setup I have heard consisted of two Tantrum 1200.1's on a single Ti elite. Although, my RSD comp on 250 watts has about the same accuracy, but it isn't nearly as fun when you turn up the volume

In this order from what I have heard (top 9), and I've heard a LOT of amps...
1. Audison VRx - BEST (have not heard Thesis)
2. Alpine Class A 3558 close second to the Audison~maybe a tad cleaner, but not as much overall volume. I have 3 of these amps personally, and they are beautifuly sounding
3. PG ZPA
4. PG MS
5. Orion HCCA/XTR (the old digital reference amps) if you never heard the Orion Buick Roadmaster (peach/purple from their posters) then you really can't understand how good those amps COULD sound
6. PPI Art Series (the mid 90s ones with the rounded top and triangle bottom case)
7. McIntosh amps, they all sound the same VERY clean, no raw low end power
8. PG Ti
9. PG M

I think you hit the nail on the head, if amp design is of the same variety, power will play a bigger roll than anything else...stipud wrote:Beyond a certain level of quality (let's say class A/B BJT darlington arrays), I can't hear much for differences between amps, unless they have a specifically colored sound. some of my favourite sounding amps i've got. (in no particular order)
pg ms2125- sounds so sweet wether powring subs or delicate highs with ease and power. hard to beat overall.
hifonics zeus viii- abaut as dynamic as it gets with TONS of headroom, most fun i've had testing an amp!!
ppi art - (A200, A600.2 etc..) very neutral sounding amps, lovely
soundstream ref300 - wonderful soundstage, detail and sq, i would be more than happy to run 3 of these on my front end
soundstream d100 - this little peach suprised me, not an spl monster but stunning mids and tops with an impressive soundstage!
m25 - just a sweet sounding lil amp, i still don't know how it manages to produce such athorative bass for it's size
