Different Outlaw finishes...?

Post by seandiguer »

So i was browsing my local paper and came accross an outlaw amp for $250.00. At that price i felt it was my duty to buy it, seeing that the one i have already is lonely. When i got home i put it beside my lonely amp I noticed that they dont match. One is silver and one is blue (like male and female) See pic... Ignore the dust as i havnt cleaned it in a while, and never even touched the one i bought yet.
Did they come in different finishes?

The left one´s colour is just faded out because of exposure to sunlight!

i would tend to agree with ^^^^^^^^^

That was going to be my suggestion as well.

Send them to me, and I can have them PC'ed to any color you would like to match your car, your hair or your girls eyes... :P

If it is sun-faded, the bottom should be a different color...as well as the inside. Could be that different batches were done in different shades? Who knows.

I've seen runs that were done at the same time turn out different with anodizing...it is due to the vast variances in the process from piece to piece depending on temp....conductivity...ect ect....mine rolled out a with a silverish overtone to...but had another that was very blue

they made a few thousand of these so finding two that match absolutely may be a trick if you arnt willing to refinish them and that is no absolute either....If the density and absorption level of the aluminum has even the most minute difference it will effect the outcome as well. that is a steal for the amp....

I thought it was sunfaded at first too, but the bottom is the same color as the top. Actually its even lighter than the top. Almost SILVER. It cleaned up pretty good too, I used some aluminum polish and it took most of the scuffs and scratches out.. although it does have a few scratches that wont come out. It was a much better deal than the $750 i payed for the blue one for almost the same condition.

I imagine that I read somewhere that all Outlaws were AL?

Anyone know the truth here??? And what about the Bandits?

Edit: I just checked, and both my Outlaw and my Bandits were AL...

all outlaws and bandits were aluminum...that was what made the bandit a limited run....there are some with and some without the side brace tabs and I think the ones without were earlier runs then those with....one the under side to support the weaker aluminum shroud.....Pedi you've been pm'ed regarding an afore mentioned desire.....

I've got an outlaw for sale too if Pedi doesn't want it....
