I agree with Eric, stick with a 2-way, some competitors use 3-ways, that doesnt mean you should. They are harder to tune, driver placement plays a bigger part in the install. You need good flexible crossovers and eq along with time alignment.

After using Time Alignment, I no longer think of it as something I'd like to have, but rather something I need. 3-way or 2-way I'd be using it regardless. Though admittedly I'm using it in easy-mode with Imprint from a CDA-9887

Im with doc....

If this is your first install go two way passive. It took me countless hours trying to figure out how to get a three to work w/ a passive let alone active.

Look into....
Boston SPZ
Seas Lotus

IMO for two way dont use dyn or morel that 3" VC isnt the best w/ midrange.
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?

Well this is what I original planned to do was to buy as I like the sound of the JL stuff.

I was going to put these in the kick panels

And then I was going to get these and mount them in the doors

Run one 400.2 and DEQ to the 2 ways and one 400.2 and DEQ to the 8" midbass drivers. I know this isn't a total active setup but it would be a good start better than just buying a 2 way and calling it done.

You only need one DEQ covering the full frequency range from the deck. Using two of them will certainly be problematic, and nearly impossible to tune. If you insist on having two, install the second for looks, but don't hook it up to anything.

I too would go 2 way as well. You will need to learn how to tune it before you can add another driver to tune, more is not always better. The other problem is that with a 3-way you need to have some good mounting points to get it to work well.

As they said, alot of 3 way systems are made by simply adding a cross-over and woofer to a 2 way set, my diamonds are like this.

2 way passive is definitely easier. No doubt. 3 way active takes more thought/planning. Ask yourself what do you want to achieve and go with that. EQ/time alignment should be the last steps in tuning. If you install and x-over correctly, not much of either is needed. You are limited on x-over adjustment with passive. So you have to start EQ'ing. I never found a need for time alignment yet others like it. The bottom line is you have A++ equipment so you will want an A++ result. Most of this is install and tuning IMO. So take your time, make a plan, and go with it. Don't be scared of 3 way. There are lots of helpful websites and people that would help out with tuning. Don't be scared to start 2 way either, they can sound great as well. Good luck

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just post it here.

I was "looking" for a set of new speakers myself and saw these

Anyone ever heard of GONZO speakers?

We were talking about those over on DIYMA, look interesting, Copper in the motor, I dont know about the tweets. Might not be a bad buy for that price but I just spent that much on some for my work truck and I bought the DLS Ms6a for $180 instead of those, I was thinking about them

I have met the guy that does robot underground and juicy robot and even bought a couple of things from him as he is just around the corner. I had good experiences with my purchases but I did hear about a couple of bad ones as well. It is really a one man operation that he works out of a house his church donated somehow and seems like a nice enough guy. I am not sure if I have time since I am almost a week from moving x-country but I could try and take a look if you want.

That would be great IF you get time. No worries if you can't.
