Why I am now broke.

Post by 76Trans Am »

I would first like to thank Frank for being a true stand up guy.
He could have taken the offers for more money... But didn't
He gave me the chance because I called and emailed him the very first day it was posted on Craigs list.
Sorry Olly,
It is not perfect there are nicks and scratches in the nickle.
It has a bad channel... I can see 2 burnt resistors.
And the plexi do not like the trip.. More cracks.
But, I am pretty sure it is worth fixing

It is with my other little secret
Not a power seller... More like a power buyer.
It does seem to be a factory mod. I removed the plate to get a look inside.
Best I can figure it had a customized plate that was removed by the original owner. and replaced with a plastic pos when sold.
I am going to have Jason make me a custom engraved plate for it.
I originaly thought of getting rid of the tri-led's.
But if the were only 2 amps cutomized like this that makes it damn rare.

It is REALLY hard to get a good pic of these.
I will get more when I can get better lighting.

Enjoy a little porn

Congrats to you mate as you managed to bag it... my beef is purely with Frank after agreeing a deal and then pulling out of it after everything has been shaken on, why he would have shaken if there was someone before me in the queue i dont know.

I hope you get it all up to scratch, either way its a great piece.

A few years back when I almost bought Frank's amp for a friend, there was not enough interest in this amp because of the red toroids; just like now there was a lot of doubt if it really wasn't a TA.
Look at those toroids now in the first pic, compared with the TA's toroids next to it ;I rest my case.
Nobody bought it back then; look what happened just now when Frank put it up for sale again...
The sale went a bit chaotic IMO, it seems that everytime there is such a piece for sale, we members show our love [and desire] for those pieces by franticly posting, calling, etc.
We all want such a piece!
Sadly sometimes such a amp has to leave as well [lucky for others eh?]
There is a new owner for the MS1K " fosgate edition" that I have here, and he will show himself with it after I made some changes to it, I guess...
For my other[ BNIB] MS1K TA there will be a owner one day as well; these legendary amps will be desired collector-items in the future as well as today.
Congrats with your TWO MS1K's !

LOL I didn't think of that till you posted.
I imagine 4.5Kw will draw some juice

I am so stoked, I can hardly beleive it.
Joerg this is why even though I wanted to...
I just could not swing the SOFAS right now.

So, What is the best for cleaning nickle?

Thanks guys !

with all that red and blue showing in that orig 1K, that would really neat if it was franked. I have always been fond of red & blue as a color scheme... red torrids, blue caps, blue clamp down bars, etc... that sounds to me like it should be in a franked sink... that would just set it off real nice... nicer than nickel, not sure i would go that far.. but certainly would follow suit quite nicely

If I was building a complete custom... Hell yeah I would do a franked.
But, I think it would be a sin to go over the nickle :(

Matt or anyone , Do you have any idea how they did the gold on the original plexi ?
This one got trashed in shipping.

i have gone to, and discussed that very same thing with about 3 different designers/printers, etc... and I have gotten answers from hot stamping, to gold leaf... not sure which is correct... but when i got mine and mine was trashed I spent months trying to figure it out. but nothing... i think it is hot stamping w/ foil. But if you ever find out let me know. pls
