Sneak Peek
Thanks for the feedback guys. A lot of questions let me address them.
- Board color is so the traces are easy to see in the prototype stage. It will likely be all black for production.
- There are no plexi windows on this model, we went with a more is less philosophy cosmetically and spent more on the electrical. Also, the way the board mounted and thermal performance it just wouldn't work out. But we haven't ruled out plexi in future designs.
- Roadster66 is a killer limited edition. We might have something in the works for later next year.
- Pricing is $450 to $1100 retail depending which of the 4 models. Ready in the spring time.
- These amps are not small footprints, but they are not surfboards. We have some small footprints coming, more on those later.

I agree but I would like to own another Limited Edition. Preferably something new.
Are the smaller footprint amps going to be the same look and design as the new high end line or are they going to be a completely different line?MW3 wrote:

Also,
in regards to pricing, what kind of retail outlets should we be looking at to purchase?

daaaamn 1100 bucks? I have a LOT of saving to do then... FUT. I am hoping something around 1000rms will be around 500 bucks. Than I can afford. But the 1100 amp better be crazy! hahahaa
Everyone should seriously start saving. The high end line looks sick.

nice start morgan!
so is this the top teir line or the medium line?
only other question is what would set this amp apart from other class d mono blocks. i guess im getting at is "sound" wise will it be better then the other high current amps out there.
other then that the amp looks beefy and very smooth.. luving the traditional tri leds the felt packaging is nice(kinda like ipaul stuff from rainbow) TOuch.
keep us updated aloha

You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!
I'm looking at the Clarion amps for the time being. Decent foot print for the power and a reasonable price. They're CEA2006 rated and I've had a Clarion amp before and miss it dearly so I have no issues going back to Clarion, but I prefer to stay w/PG as they've been my #1 favorite amplifier company sense I can remember.
This amp fits my desires almost to a "T". I'd like 2000 wrms x 1 @ 2 ohms, but 1550 will do.

And something like this for a 4 ch amp, but not in the marine chassis as this one is.

I can manage to fit them both behind my back seat so I'm in hopes that the new PG top end line will fit the bill too.

Going BIG (meaning long BIG amplifiers) is TOTALLY the wrong direction.
In my opinion. Yes, for a small die-hard group it may be fine.
But the reality is WE ALL want big power ...small package!!
And if you do a marketing study of what RF, JL, ARC and a bunch of others are doing...
ONLY their small form factor amplifiers are selling right now.
But...hey what the hell do I know! That's one of the reasons I left PG, I was told I didn't "get it" anymore.
We shall see....we shall see.....
IF AMP (PG) come out with HUGE big ass amplifiers (physically) I think they will die with them. I know that it is pretty easy to "place' the product with a few retialers...BUT sell thru is something COMPLETELY .
different.
And my guess is AMP wants to sell a lot of product. Not if its longer than 24 inches for a car amplifier they aren't!!!
Again...my own opinion. Take it for whats it worth.

I will post preview of our small amplifiers on Friday. We offer large and small footprint amplifiers.
Our smaller amplifiers will be very reasonably priced. Targeted at OEM upgrades and installs where space is tight.

This is true though to a certain extent. Everyone does want compact. They want something small that can perform as well as the big dogs. It is hard putting a xenon 1200.1 and a xenon 200.4 in the same trunk. I wish they were smaller and had the same output.
I think you are right though. Everything out there is getting smaller/thinner with newer technologies. I just wonder when they find some new transistors/capacitors that are tiny but can handle a lot of power. U know the future of car audio. Unless it is always going to be the same....

I kinda see both points about the size of amplifiers.
Has anyone looked at the stetsom 14k amp, its 2 to 3 inches larger then my ms2125.
I see how the size makes a difference in preception, but i am and always will be an installer and i find big amps are a pain in the ass to install in these newer cars that have everything from airbags crammed in every crevis to no space under seats.
I have heard of some stuff that Larry has mentioned from rockford and other companies that have large power amps in small foot prints and if IIRC rockford has a rather high powered amp that can run off of stock electricals with no problems.
Either way I hope PG does make an impact in 2010 and if the product has the same sound quality and integrity of there older product I will be looking at buying some new amps.
Morgan i need a 2500 watt amp that sounds as good as my old ms 2125, LOL
aloha guys.
