My phoenix gold m44

Post by Juice0723 »

Hey guys.

My PG m44 sounds not that loud though until I pretty much turn the gain all the way up. But the gain on the amp is 0.2-2V around that I think. I have a 5V going to it. Wonder why it sounds low because it should sound loud at low gain.
Thanks.

With 5V going into the amp you shouldn't have to touch the gain at all. I found my M44 would just scream at 2V.

Something is wrong with your amp, the signal it's getting or the speakers hooked up to it.

Have you measured the 5v from your headunit? Most of the time they don't put out anywhere near their rated voltage.

Its a 880prs. So I think it would do rated. I haven't measured it though. Just thought the deck was top of the line so it would do 5v. Should I check it?

Its like this when bridged as well. But it still screams, don't get me wrong but I just have to have the gain cranked, pretty much all the way.

When bridged it puts out 160watts rms @4ohm right?

I'm using ppi 356cs components. I think the front channels are blown, the rear work fine. I tested the front channels before and they were different then the rear.

Well it seems to be that my Jbl gto75.4ii works now. So I bridged it, sending 284watts rms to each side. Gets loud as heck, very nice upgrade from the Rsd components. Very clean and smooth sounding comp set.
