Genesis Dual Mono Extreme

Well guys I took the plunge and purchased a handbuilt Genesis Dual Mono Extreme. I don't think power is going to be an issue anymore.. neither is SQ. I heard one of these bad boys in a comp vehicle last year on my same components and it was frighteningly strong and the soundstage was soo wide and detailed. They retail for around $1700 but I got it for a steal used. This one has a test sheet from the factory and produced 317 watts/channel into 4ohms 13.8v. mmm, burr brown ops. Here are some specs:

This kind of fell into my lap so I had to get it! Now to sell my audison and Zapco to make up some doe.

Anyone have any experience with this amplifier? My experience is auditioning it once... but fortunately it was on my same components in a GMC Yukon which has similar acoustics to mine. woohoo! Can't wait to give my poor components what they've been begging for.

a truely awsome amp these amps are great we had these running w7 subs (thats primarly what they were modded for!!)

Genesis is one of the most famous and best brands made in the UK. U can´t do wrong using one of those.

On the comp circuit these are supposed to be legendary. I chatted with some very successful competitors who will run nothing else for their front soundstage. They claim that one I hear this on my components only then will I truly appreciate the hand built quality of the amp. I guess the owner of genesis says that the dmx is the finest sounding amplifier he's produced. But their is a class A DMA that is supposedly out of this world.

That is sad. With all of these chinese manufacturers pumping out garbage at $99.00 a pop it makes it hard for quality companies to compete. 15 years ago you had choices like SS, Rockford, Sony, Linear, PPI, etc,... now you have pieces of shit like Dual and audio Teqhnique out there... not to mention all the other off brand knockoff crap. And the kids buy that crap up because it's cheap and says "20000000 watts rms!" It gets their little ignorant minds pumping. I've loved quality car audio for the last 22 years and I'm sad to see the quality manufacturers dissapearing. Soon enough anyone who wants quality will have to go to feebay or the phorums to get their used gear because nothing good will be available from our dealers.

Sad stuff my friends... sad stuff.

Excellent buy! I met Gordon a few years back at a show in England. His amps are very well built It's a shame he has now shut down his facility and closed shop. I'm sure he will be back some way some how.

He does have a few service centers that will repair any Genesis built amp if you have issues.

Let us know how you like this amp it's got balls of steel.

I have had people ask me what I paid. I got it for $525 shipped to my door. I am really looking forward to installing it.

a friend of mine runs 4 dmx's and the sq is incredible, it's one amp i'd like to compare back to back with some of my treasures!

Genesis amps are audio sex... maybe AAMP can buy them too and turn them around. Keep the production in england and use their distributors here in the states to sell them.

another amp with name recognition that hasnt been trashed by Rodin (or a like company) would help build PG back up as well. PG, built by the same people that build Genesis? it could work...

That would be awesome! Around here genesis aren't very popular as nowhere even sells them, I think I have seen 2 genesis amps in my 22 years installing in my area.

I got the Genesis yesterday and did a makeshift hookup to test and make sure verything was fine. first of all it came in better than described condition

And the build quality of this thing is like handling a high dollar home tube amplifier... so beautiful. I just ordered some power cable since mine is too short. I've never heard Class G before but the amp is VERY clear. I haven't set the gains properly yet but I heard a cymbal crash and wow! it sounded so realistic. I got my CDT DRT-26A Aluminum domes in the mail yesterday... I'll be replacing the DRT-26S silk domes. The Aluminums sound waaaay better... They are a nice middle ground between titanium and silk. Clarity without the harshness. Can't wait to get this all set up! I hate waiting for stuff in the mail to finish. Now I just need t figure out how to use my handheld o-scope.
