Interesting design... looks like Class-D subwoofer section and Class A/B triple darlington full range section, sharing the same power supply! Definitely a unique design. If I had to guess, 75x4 and 500x1?

I wonder though, if using class A/B for the sub channels in the same chassis size would have yielded basically the same amount of power, while allowing you to share rail capacitance? Basically exactly like the Ti900.7.

Just look at that cap bank
Image

I count the same number as power supply mosfets as the 900.7 (12), and the same 2 BJTs per full range channel as well. Considering the Class-D sub stage probably draws less power than the Ti900.7's A/B channels, this amp may even have more headroom for the full range channels. In fact if you used the center channel output on the Ti900.7, you would be draining it even further! So it definitely looks like this power supply is more overbuilt (that was always my main issue with the 900.7, which is why I suppose it got such a huge rail cap bank to make up for it).

Looks like a solid amp! Cool beans 8)

Yummy looking!

reminds me a lot of the Roadster66... class-d sub + A/B 4-channel Hopefully its smaller that Roadster is a bear to find a location for.

A little followup.

That is the Ti1600.5....

100 x 4 Class A/B four channel plus 1000 x 1 class D subwoofer channel.

It has all the crossovers you need HP/LP/BP. Yes you can even run tweeters of the front channels.

Gobs of power and headroom, especially on the subwoofer channel. Most 5 channels have a subwoofer channel that makes 300 to 400 watts, we wanted something that could really drive a set of large woofers.

nice so what the real rms 50x4rms 4ohm and 250rms x1 4ohm? what kinda cost?

the only reason i said my number is the new rating are much higher than you really get wish it was like the old zx days but far from it with the number :hmm:

Nice!!! The first "new PG" item that is actually entertaining to me. Some real power in a single chassis!

Price?

x10 multiplier for active front?

More likely sub 600 watts and other four 75 watts RMS

nice! that is super useful! if i can afford one, i would run one for sure! good work pg!

is that "1000 watts" at 1ohm?

I have to say though I am getting a little tired of everyone doing the same cosmetics package though. break the monotony of the small black amp and do something different. Everyone is doing the same package the last 4-5 yrs...

x2 - I miss the days of the unique-looking M44. which is partly what the appeal of the Roadster is/was to me...

somebody needs to break the monotony and do something original. I think maybe bring back the plexi or something different.

plexi to me is easy and not really a change(cheap)IMO. I think look the way they thought back in the day and maybe talk with some of the older staff about retro item. Retro items in sales items seem to be making a come back. What about a 2011 old school look like the M and new style inside to make them better cooler running so there will be let problems
soundstream,rf and some other have been doing the same in the last couple of years

I don't get this... didn't Eric test the Ti800.4 for output and it measured out to within a percentile of what PG claimed it did?

I would be surprised if the class-D sub section of the amp wasn't optimized for 1 ohm (so yes, not 1000W at 4 ohms or anything) but I'm pretty sure the full range stuff made the power claimed by PG at 4 ohms.

the test was 99-98watt front and rear by 4 on there web site as tested. here is a quote on how they got the number: with We connected the Ti800.4 to a power supply the size of a small refrigerator, cranked the voltage to 14.4, loaded all channels with 1000 watt test resistors, and upped the output until distortion reached clipping (1% distortion). We used a frequency of 50 Hz, because the typical 1 kHz does not drive amps very hard (the CEA standard chose 50 Hz since a lot of bass power is concentrated around that frequency). Also, 50 Hz allows direct comparison to subwoofer‐only amps which we’ll test in the future.

so with out hitting 1%distortion and not having a seperate power supply like the roadster66 I would guess useable 4ohm clean power normal running would be around the 50x4 and 250 x1 4ohm im sure you will see around 750 rms useable or 1000 peak unless this amp is 3-4 ft long than i retract my numbers but to me it looks smaller
the pg number say 125watt 4ohm and 200watts 2ohm they didn't hit that in the test they show on there web site?? it was alot closer to the 130-145 are
i just hate this peak crap ratings
 :hmm:

1000 watts @ 1 ohm...

MSRP is $1099.99, not cheap, but its a ton power in a single package.

$1099, no doubt. They keep tight locks on their distributors now. You won't be seeing this gear on eBay for 1/3rd the cost!

Way cool amp Morgan! I am glad to see you guys try a more bold idea like a hybrid amp design. Not too many of them out there, especially with these power specs. Should turn some heads for sure.
